I've never been to that balloon festival but maybe some day. Here in Lake Havasu City, Az we also have a balloon festival every year in January. For 2015, I think its 16, 17, 18. Its free here except I think $10 to park. They have the night glow, water dip contest and a few other events. I think there is around 60 balloons each year which is nothing compared to New Mexico but still fun for a small town. This event happens the same weekend as the "Busses by the Bridge" event where VW busses from around the country come out here for the largest vw bus show in the country, so they say anyway. I swear last year it seemed like what Woodstock would have been like. (I was not at woodstock though, I swear)! Lots of old hippies now still in their busses and you can imagine what was wafting through the air!

A fun weekend here for sure!

We went to the festival in 2005, and supposedly that was one of the largest ever. It was an amazing experience. Need to get up and get out there really early, though. The glow of the balloons as they fill them up before sunrise is really cool.
