Phoenix to San Diego Cruise 8/17/2002
Hot August nights at the Pavilion's are too hot...Let's go to San Diego. Here's the deal.....John (Gonzo) and Jeff are heading up this trip. Please call ASAP to guarantee your room at the OLD TOWNE PLAZA HOTEL. ...... ( 1-800-638-0379) $92.00 per night. Call ASAP....Mgr. is Gene Kim. The location is just off I-5 just south of I-8. Exit Old Towne ave from I-5 and go east (left) to Moore St. Turn north (left) on Moore st and look for the hotel on your right. That's all.
PLAN A. Meet the morning of 8/17/02 ..(6:30) at the Arizona Mills Mall Krispy Kreme doughnut shop to depart for San Diego via I-8. Stop to refuel in Yuma etc...Arrive in San Diego for a Winery tour around noon, then return to the OLD TOWNE PLAZA HOTEL to check in after 4 PM. BBQ at Dog Beach around 7 PM. I will supply the grill and charcoal, you supply your own burgers, chicken, hot dogs, or whatever. Return to HOTEL to hot tub/pool optional for the evening. Sunday Morning, breakfast and checkout around 11 AM. Return to Phoenix area. (Some people may stay an extra night and return Monday. That's about it. Beach bonfires are legal here if you each bring a couple of sticks of wood, AND BYOB. Shopping is plentiful within walking distance of the motel.

That's a little far for my '70 Roadster, specially with the 370's :D I just bought her in SD three weeks ago (trailered her back). I'm planning to hit the Pavillions this Saturday any of you going to be there?

But lets stop by Desert Dawg's place in Gila Bend (map is below) and have some refreshments and see this remote desert hermit.
When do you all think you would be coming through town?
Desert and I will set it up.....
Just let us know.

BSeery,
We're departing from the AZ Mills (US 60 & I 10) at approximately 7:00. What time would that put us over there?

Hey Doc,
Sorry, but I can't make it.
I'll be in a defensive driving course all day. :(
That's what ya get for trying to race a Lambo Diablo on Scottsdale Road .... no kidding. Chris Rogers is my witness.
Hope you guys have a great time. I've been wanting to make a San Diego cruise for more than two years. You're retired. We'll have to do it again.

Re: Phoenix to San Diego Cruise 8/17/2002 (DOCM)
Hey group, I spoke with Mark Kramer (owner of McDonald"s) and he will join us for the BBQ at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach, Ca. Saturday at 7PM. If you are reading this, you also are welcome to join us. If you bring the food, I will cook it. Just take I-8 to the very end, follow Sunset Cliffs Blvd to Voltaire st. Turn right and go straight to the parking lot at the beach.

Hi y'all - can't make it either - the '96 is still down for the count and I'm trying to get ready for the Low & High Speed at Millard, then the SCCA Nationals the second week of September. Have a GREAT time, but watch your step at Dog Beach :D - Paul
