New South Austin Meet
There were a few organized events going on in North Austin area (Round Rock, Pflugerville, etc.) and would like to start something in South Austin. Traffic has becoming such a problem going up north for meets is becoming a real chore. I went down to Cabela's Saturday evening for the first time in about a year and it was not the type of crowd it was back then.
I would like to throw out the idea of meeting Saturday nights in the Hill Country Galleria area. There are a number of fine establishments there that would no doubt welcome us including MacDonalds, Mimi's, Zingers, and others. There is even Whole Foods were we can sit outside with a beverage. On the other side of Rt71, there is couple of other nice places.
Is there any interest out there?

I'm interested. We used to meet at the Y in Oak Hill many years ago but that died.

All the meets seem to die out, some quicker than others. They get too big and/or too rowdy and the Retailer(s) doesn't want the Liabilty.
The few that tried to control the number of cars or people died fast. I remember one on I35 N a few years ago, you had to "check" in and they assigned you a place to park. It didn't last long. If you go back even further there was the Vans Auto Parts meet on 183/Ohlen Rd. They tried charging admission and had bouncers and Security. Still got shut down.
Then there was the huge meet in '04/'05 at The Home Depot lot @ 1431 & Parmer. It got so big there was no parking for Home Depot customers after 6PM on Saturday.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Biff's and our Coffee and Rides is pretty lame. Never seen a vette club in San Antonio. Corvettes are usually integrated to larger enthusiast groups.

That sounds like a great idea!! With some of the other groups I'm involved with we usually meet at a location with restaurant, bar/pub, coffee, or ice cream place. A few people will grab drinks or food then we'll all continue the meet outside. We usually change locations to avoid attracting some of the idiots around town who like to park next to us and start acting like idiots.
I guess lets continue this discussion through PM so that we don't hijack this thread.
Edit: Apparently you don't receive PM's so I sent you an email through the forum.

We lost our original Coffee and Rides location because of several incidents. Here was strike 2
So when and where in South Austin?? Would be nice to hang out with some other Vette owners

With all due respect, posting videos like this contribute little to this thread.
I know there are many fine Corvette owners in south Austin who will behave appropriately and I suggested a new meeting place in the Hill Country Galleria. I saw open area near Whole Foods/ Dick's Sporting / Mimi's so I am suggesting we meet there and see how it goes.

RussM05: Sorry didn't mean to offend. I was merely responding to your previous comment and making the case that there are always a few bad apples in any group, regardless if you drive a Civic, Corvette, or Lambo. I should have clarified that this is the only incident that I witnessed a Corvette owner making such a mistake. The other bad incidents that lead to the loss of our venue were caused by a variety of other vehicles and their owners.
Most of the Corvette owners I have met have are exceptional and responsible people. We are usually one of the most respected groups at the various car events I have attended.
As I previously mentioned, I am looking forward to hanging out with other Corvette owners in the region and I fully support you efforts to get the group together.

I'm not that interested in a Corvette only meet, I like to see other makes and models also. Seeing and talking to exactly the same people all the time gets boring. I like seeing supercars, hot rods & restorations of all types of cars.

Get one.
Come on up.
Yup, Austin traffic is the worst.
