Default Full Paint Correction on BLUICIDE's 1998 Nassau Blue C5

Greg brought me his blown and cammed 1998 Corvette for a paint correction this weekend. Overall, I spent about 9 hours on it from start to finish.

The first step was a thorough wash. I started off with SCG Professional Surface Prep Wash

After the surface prep wash, I clayed the entire vehicle. A ton of red overspray was removed from the roof and hatch area of the car. As it turns out, it did have some overspray at one point that a shop had supposedly removed, but there was a good amount left over that my uber clay bar removed.

After the clay bar treatment I washed the car one more time, dried it and brought it into the garage.

I laid a piece of tape down and experimented a bit and ended up settling on Menzerna FG400 and a microfiber cutting pad to correct the C5's very hard clearcoat.

50/50 shot of paint after one pass

Now that I knew the steps to take, I got to work on the entire vehicle. After multiple passes with the microfiber cutting pad, I switched to a foam pad loaded with Menzerna SF4000 polish. The results were simply amazing as the Nassau Blue paint really started to come alive. Keep in mind, this car is 16 years old.

Doing work

After completing the polishing stage, it was time to protect the car. I chose to go with Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant as I love the stuff and it gives a nice finish which causes water to just roll off. It also makes the car extremely easy to wash and care for after the paint correction.

After the sealant was applied, it was time to look at the car in natural daylight. The metallic in the Nassau Blue paint just popped and the car looked simply outstanding.

Short video of the light on the car along with the car out in the sunlight.

Needless to say, we were both extremely pleased with the results. I enjoyed working on the car quite a bit and it was great to see the owner's face after the transformation.

Default Paint recorrection

Never heard that term before. I gotta tell ya, after seeing it done, the result is well worth it. BLUICIDE looks completely new, in terms of depth, shine, reflectability, (is that a word?) and overall appearance. The finish is slicker than eel $hit. Don't wait to get this done. The procedure(s) take alll day. I know another guy Maxx that had the same experience. Thing is, private, personal (and if you wish) hands-on experience. IMHO, the ONLY way to go, for a full Clay/Buff/Seal. As you either choose to watch & learn, or go pick up your ride afterwards. Hell, I thought we'd never get done, but, $$ well spent. Expert? Yes. Damn good. If you are in/nearby the Houston area, this is the guy to know. Yes, indeed.

It is SB. Quality job, done while you wait. It takes a while. End result? For lack of a better term, remarkable. Had NO idea the need for the "treatment". It was easily noticeable during/after the claybar after the wash. The process continued trough three passes of polishes and topped-off by sealant. Would I recommend it? You bet. Like you said, I thought it looked ok too. After seeing the 50/50 shot of the pre-polish, I was blown away. Well worth the day and $ spent. Guy knows what he's doing. Essentially, that Nassau Blue car looks like brand new. DEEEP shine. Wanted to get it done b4 the LSCC. Got it done anyway, afterwards. Ready to present the car for win/place/show now. Just sayin'.

Appreciate the kind words!

I'll be happy to teach you some washing tips and techniques as well to keep it looking great and maintained without adding damage down the line

I hope you didn't charge him for that. The privelege of working on a Nassau Blue car should have been enough.

Lol. It's one of my favorite c5 colors by far. I must have told him 10 times about the FRC in this color I let get away because the dealer wanted too much.

Nice pick up! We still need to do the photoshoot we talked about in that other thread since you are out my way. Buddy of mine just did one at that old gas station over the weekend. I am still waiting to see what they came up with on the pics since this online magazine deal did the pics.

Wow, excellent work. Wish I could go down to Houston to get this done, but I feel like it would be a little out of my budget, hah. Great work though!

Yes sir. Flex 3401. I have since added a Rupes 21 to my arsenal. Hard to beat the Flex on an extremely curvy C5 though
