SATURDAY PARADE! Let's show off our Corvettes!
The weather forecast for the parade is so much better than the weather we had last weekend and temps should be in the 50s throughout the event.
This event provides us with two great opportunities: providing food items for the Lawton Food Bank and increasing awareness of our new club. And even if you are unable to participate in the parade, feel free to join us before hand at Jim Glover Chevrolet with non-perishable food items to be donated to the Lawton Food Bank.
Here's the schedule for the evening:
4:30 p.m. - Meet at Jim Glover Chevrolet (bring a sack or two of canned/non-perishable food items to donate to the Lawton Food Bank.
4:45 p.m. - Caravan from Jim Glover to Lawton High School.
5:00 p.m. - Parade staging at Lawton High School.
6:00 p.m. - Parade begins.
After the parade, those who wish to do so can grab some dinner together.
Hope to see many of you there!

Six beautiful Corvettes showed up at Jim Glover Chevrolet tonight with donations for the Lawton Food Bank. It's great to be able to help those in need and everyone's donations were greatly appreciated.

Five of those Corvettes continued on to participate in the Lawton Christmas Parade. Here are some photos from the parade:

MORE AREA CHRISTMAS PARADES = MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO HANG OUT AND SHOW OFF OUR CORVETTES!
There are several area Christmas parades the next two weekends, and the weather may wreak havoc with parade plans, but for now, here are the opportunities before us.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7
Marlow Parade - 10:00 a.m. Line up is at 9:00 a.m.
Sterling Parade - 2:00 p.m. Line up is at 1:00 p.m.
Walters Parade - 6:00 p.m. Line-up is at 5:00 p.m.
I plan to participate in all three December 7 parades. Feel free to join me for one, two, or all three. Those who want to cruise to Marlow as a group can meet me at the Country Mart at the intersection of SE Lee and SE 45th Street (4510 SE Lee Blvd, Lawton, OK). We will meet at 8:15 a.m. and will depart at 8:25 a.m. After the Marlow parade, we can grab some lunch before heading to Sterling. I'll post more details about all three parades in a couple of days.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14
Medicine Park Parade - 2:00 p.m. - More details soon!

DECEMBER 7 PARADE UPDATE...
Due to the potential for a winter weather event this weekend, the parades that had been scheduled for this Saturday, December 7, have been rescheduled for Saturday, December 14. There are several other area parades already scheduled for that day, so I am going to take a look at the options and get back with everyone regarding details for the 14th.

December 14 Parade Update
December 14 is a busy day for me. It's also a busy day for area parades. I know of no less than 6 parades within 30 miles of Lawton this Saturday! I have time to attend one and would like to attend the Duncan parade which would give us the most exposure as a club. Here are the details for those who would like to join in on the fun:
1:30 p.m. - Meet at the Country Mart at the intersection of SE Lee and SE 45th Street (4510 SE Lee Blvd, Lawton, OK).
1:40 p.m. - Leave Country Mart to head to Duncan.
2:15 p.m. - Arrive at the parade staging area (on Maple Street on the south side of the courthouse).
3:00 p.m. - Parade begins!
The parade organizers would like to announce each one of our cars individually, so if you plan to come, please message me as soon as possible with the following information as you want it read over the P.A. system during the parade: Owner's name(s), Year, City, and anything else you would like them to mention about your Corvette.
I will have to leave immediately after the parade due to a prior commitment, but feel free to get together for dinner if there are those who wish to do so. Let's get our Vettes all shined up and ready to show off at the parade!

Friends,
If you're like me and most people at this time of the year, you're probably pretty busy. Since no one has indicated that they are going to participate in the Duncan parade tomorrow, I am withdrawing our entry in the parade. I look forward to the coming year as we officially kick off our new club!
Enjoy the holidays!

Sherry and I live in Wichita Falls too and belong to the Red River CC. We both grew up in Walters,OK and still consider it home. Maybe we can attend one of your gatherings in 2014. Didn't make it to the Medicine Park show in October but attended the event in 2012,on our Boss Hoss 57 Chev V8 trike.

Geronimo's 1st Annual "Rockin' Car Show" is Saturday, January 25. If you want to enter a Corvette in the show, the entry fee is $25 through Friday, January 24 (day of show entry fee is $35). To register in advance, mail or hand deliver the entry form and $25 to the Geronimo City Hall (the address is on the entry form).
If you plan to attend and want to drive from Lawton to Geronimo with me, meet me between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. at Jim Glover Chevrolet on the corner of 82nd and Cache Road. We'll hit the road at 9:45 a.m. and take 82nd Street to Hwy 36 and then Hwy 281 into Geronimo.
Award presentation is scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m. If there are good number of us in attendance, we may want to have a "club meeting" while we are there or after the award presentation at a restaurant back in Lawton. I've been working on the things we need to do to get our club officially started, so we will talk about that as well as a kick off club event - a Corvette car show on April 26!
Let me know if you plan to join in on the fun!
