My Heads & Cam Experience with RPT
I recently took my 2008 Z06 to RPT for some upgrades and am very happy with the results. Details are below.
I don't know if any of you are following the events happening with LS7 motors but several members have had major engine failures resulting from needle bearing issues and valve guide issues. Go to the C6 Z06 section of the forum and check out the threads there.
These potential problems had left me with a nagging concern in the back of my mind. I could not afford to replace my motor. A couple of other forum members felt the same way. They purchased some new Brodix heads and sold their LS7 heads to Brian at RPT. Brian sent them to WCCH.
Brian then exhanges the heads with your LS7 stock heads. This is a lot cheaper procedure than buying new heads and a lot faster then sending your heads in to be re-worked.
There is also a Comp Cams trunion upgrade kit to eliminate the needle bearing problem.
I decided that I should have both of these solutions. While Brian had the motor apart, it was a good time to add a Katech Torquer 116 cam and a ported throttle body.
In summary, I am very happy with the results, 529 RWHP and 474 TQ with the stock exhaust. With the Halltech CAI that I already had, this is a gain of 80 RWHP and 52 TQ over my stock baseline power.
The car sounds like stock with the NPP exhaust turned on.
Brian took photos of the car and the progress made and did a great job of keeping me updated throughout the process. There was a delay with the cylinder heads as WCCH is a little backed up right now.

WCCH machines your supplied castings. Includes hot tank and blast cleaning, installing bronze valve guides, WCCH Stage 2 CNC port program, competition valve job, surface milling and new stainless steel exhaust valves. The titanium intake valves are cleaned, inspected and tumble polished to help reduce valve guide related wear.

I am currently planning the very same combo from Brian as well.
Most of you in the Austin area know how I/we feel about Brian and his work.
But for those of you who do not, check him out.
