About
2010 will mark the year that Festival of Speed returns from OK-Speed. This is a competition of the 3 different motorsport races to measure a car's capabilities and versatility: Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (Circuit Track), Oklahoma Sheriff's Training Facility Road Course (Autocross), and finally Thunder Valley Raceway Park (1/4 Mile Drag Race Strip). This event is not entirely about competition, but also education - seasoned drivers will be participating alongside non-seasoned and offering advice to better understand your car's ability, and enhance your overall driving capabilities. There is no formal podium placing in Festival of Speed; however, awards will be given for various accomplishments (First Place Street Class, First Place Race Class, Golden Turd, First Class Nemb, etc). Each event will not be about what place you come in, but instead the lap times you post per event.
Classes
There will be only two primary classes, Race and Street. The qualifications between classes is very simple, the Street class rules are the following: DOT non-R Comp tires only, cannot change tires between events, and finally must be driven to each event under its own power; whereas, the Race class rules are the following: R-Comp Tires, Slicks, Car competes in wheel-to-wheel racing, changing tires between events.
Hallett Motor Racing Circuit - 5/27/2010
Festival of Speed will start with an all-day event on the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit track on Thursday, May 27th. Drivers will not be required to participate all day, at any regular intervals. This is also not wheel-to-wheel racing, this day is time trials. There will be a minimum of 3 groups - Novice, Intermediate, and Expert - each group will consist of voluntary members. Drivers will be asked to place themselves in the group they feel most comfortable with, so that they may be able to drive at their best without having to worry about trying to overpass or blocking other drivers on the track. The overall goal is to never have to see another car while you're on the track, even though there might be 5 other cars on track. As a participant of Festival of Speed, the fastest lap you complete will be the lap time posted for the day. For more information regarding Hallett, please visit http://www.hallettracing.com/.
Thunder Valley Raceway Park - 5/28/2010
The second day of Festival of Speed will be a straight-line, drag race event. This event will be at night, during a Test 'n Tune date at Thunder Valley. The fastest 1/4 mile pass made will be the lap time posted for the day. For more information regarding Thunder Valley, please visit http://www.okthunder.com/.
Oklahoma Sheriff's Training Facility Road Course (Autocross) - 5/29/2010 (or 5/30/2010)
The final event of Festival of Speed will be a low speed autocross event. The event will be most likely during the morning. For more information regarding this event, please visit http://www.sunbeltbmwcca.org/index.p...to-x&Itemid=54.
