Default Wreckless driving ticket Houston. Help

I was driving home Saturday night and was pulled over by 2 Harris County Sheriffs. I had to work early so I was going home about 1230 at night. I was sober and asked why they pulled me over. Said I was driving wrecklessly and I asked how. They said I was driving at high speeds, which I wasnt. They told me to get out of the car and arrested me. I've never been to jail and didnt really know what was going on. The officer treated me like crap, pushed me around and cussed me out even though I was be very cooperative with him. I asked him to loosen the cuffs as I just had shoulder surgery and it was really hurting, he said oh well basically. I had 5.5 hours of surgery and go to a pain Dr regularly.

Only thing I can see is that I had my cutouts open so it was a loud Orange Corvette changing lanes and they figured I was doing something wrong. The officers where sitting in a nearby parking lot and saw me go by. No radar just said I was going fast. Nope.

I then saw the judge the next morning and he read what the officer wrote. He said I was driving at high speeds and I actually went into the turning lane to pass 2 cars. No way would I ever going into the middle lane to pass cars. Thats dangerous and I would really never do that, I love my car and wouldnt take the chance of a head on collision. There were three other cars on the road in front of me that were driving too slow in 2 seperate lanes I went around them and even signaled so there was no need for me to even go into the turning lane.

I would admit if I was wrong but I really feel I was wronged here. The officers were parked in a parking lot like I said so there was no way they could even see what lane I was in. I think they saw a flashy, loud car go by and assumed.

Im not sure what to do about this. I talked to a ticket lawyer yesterday and he told me it was $2500 each time we went to court and it would take 2-3 times. No way I can afford that as I've been unemployed for the last 5 months bc I broke my shoulder and moved here to get the job I just started 2 weeks ago.

I also just got a new rearend put in and was in the 300 mile break in period so I was taking it easy on the car anyhow.

Any advice? Thanks.

wow, that's bs. I believe you as I've had that same thing happen to me when I lived in El Paso. I was just driving my Camaro down the street when a cop pulled me over and accused me of racing. I was shocked how he would blatantly lie to my face.

The video from the police car is public record and the audio from the cop should be picked up on it. Call the courthouse and ask where you can pick up a copy. I won't go into details on mine but I got out of what would have been a very expensive ticket by having the video. The cop took me to the ground and was very rough and the video clearly showed there was nothing that provoked it. I basically had to sign a form that I would go away quietly and the charges also vanished.

Good luck!

Well he cussed me and pushed me around when he was taking me to the big jail. I was cuffed and he told me to open the door. I had my boots on he he told me to open the door. I used the side of my boot and pushed the door open. He starting screaming at me that I kicked the door and wtf was wrong with me. I said did you want me to open it with my face? He then continued to efff you this and and eff you that about how much I was pissing him off. I was very nice and did everything he said. This whole thing was unnecessary.

Call David Sprecher. Cost me $150 for a speeding ticket but not jail. We went to court 4 time and the total price was $150.

The cop will just say he saw the issue and it wasn't recorded on tape. In the end it'll be your word versus him. I ran into the same issue in Lubbock but didn't get arrested. Houston is full of lawyers, I'd keep calling around. I got a lawyer to take care of my case for <$500 including fines but it never went to trial.

BTW cork those pipes, it's just asking for trouble

man you have been having bad luck since u moved here....
first a tire flat then almost crashed and now this.....

anyways i have been thru the same thing...
i got pulled over on 59 north...

cop came out and said "do you want to go to jail"
i was like wtf? then he said "let me see ur license and insurance"

he goes back and next thing u know he gave me 4 tickets...
1) speeding 85 on 60
2) unsafe lane change
3) not showing lights while changing lanes
4) no front license plates

but the funny thing is that he was racist....
he pulled right next to me and saw who was driving....and then pulled me over....
he saw a brown person driving a corvette...go figure

oh well i am fighting the case with a lawyer...lets see how that goes...

I had a situation myself where I got pulled over for reckless driving and speeding 110mph in the 55 zone. I've uploaded a document that helped me out tremendously in court and the cop ended up dropping the charges. Just make sure you file a motion for discovery as the document states. Read the entire document and embed it into your head.

Go down to the courthouse and talk to the self help department, they will be able to give you the motion for discovery paperwork. You send one copy to the officer, one to the judge, and keep one yourself. If two officers were there, both officers need to be present in court.

Good luck!

Thanks! Was your charge wreckless driving though or just speeding?

Not cool...
I too was profiled (i'm a white guy) just last week.. I have my car on cruise @ 60mph in a 60 mph zone.. A Constable was sitting @ an exit shooting radars @ cars.. this JA in a cadillac withthes monster 22's came flying past me.. Next thing i know the cop is in MY rearview following almost on my bumper.. he proceded to follow me for approx 5 mi or so inching up towards my bumper... I was getting PISSED and slowed down even more, moved over to the slow lane ( there were 3 lanes) and he finally pulled up beside me staring @ me, and nailed it cutting me off taking the next exit!

Some of these guys are "head trip" Jack asses! If it were Joe blow in their personal vehicle, i would probably had followed him til he got out of his car, and beat his ass... then , i could be taken to jail for assault..

Good luck with your case.. Keep us posted..

Our cars are attention magnets enough.. drawing attention by racing, wreckless driving on the hwy's is simply asking to have your ass handed to you..
