Is this some kind of joke? Aside from being a horrible tuner (friends have spent thousands with him only to be left with many issues still needing to be attended to) I believe there is a warrant out for his arrest.
I would never do business with him or tell a fellow car enthusiast to visit him. His work is subpar, his customer service is nonexistant, and he's left more than a few people out to dry.

Strong words. Do you have any actual proof of any that? You ought to put your name behind statements like that. It's funny how people have no problem spreading hear say when it sounds as if you don't actually have experience with him or his work yourself. Are you sure some of the issues you spoke of are with him or the owner of SW Tuning.
I had him tune my car after a cam swap and it runs perfect without any issues. I have no problem getting in touch with him when needed. For just a cam swap I run right with alot of cars with good heads and aftermarket cams.
not in Oklahoma but in Texas
try Xtreme Horsepower they did all the work on my z06 head cam package headers full exhaust tune
very very happy with it car runs amazing great guys to deal with
call them

I sure do. Do some information and research about Jim. When was the last time you contacted him? He screwed over his last partners/owners in Texas and did the same thing here in Oklahoma. He ran off with thousands of dollars of tuning software.
I know plenty of people who have had work done by him and it was bad to say the least. Jim talks up his work and can't deliver. He claimed to be able to port heads, but it looked like something Hellen Keller would have done.
How did you pay Jim? Did you pay in cash for a better deal? Most customers did, and he pocketed that money.
You saying your cam only car runs with head/cam cars doesn't mean anything. What is your setup? What cam, intake, gears, etc? What kinda power did your car make? What kinda times did you run at the track? It's no secret Jim's cars don't make power or run the times.

Ok guys, here's the deal so there is no speculation as to why SWTuning closed down. There is not a whole lot of demand for a performance shop in OKC, the work trickled in too slow and when there was work Jim would not get it done.
Jim had a tendancy to do what he wanted to "YOUR" not what you wanted. Hell, I owned the company and constantly had to flat out tell Jim to just do what I asked him to do. Many times Jim would do something to a cusotmers car or put a part on it that the customer did not ask for. Jim's customer service "Sucked"!
It was bad enough that the market here in OKC is limited, which was not conducive to growing a shop that could hire a full time qualified mechanic, have a girl upfront and maintain a tuner full time to be able to get the type of work completed that people expected from performance shop. On top of that having Jim strut around tooting his horn about how great he was and then never producing compounded the problem. Did anyone ever notice the Cobra kit car that sat in the shop for three years and the mustang Bullitt that was in there since the beginning? The Bullitt never was completed to the satisfaction of the owner (me).
Jim talked a bunch and hardly produdced which compounded the problem of not having a strong market demand here in OKC. If he would of just been honest, straight foraward, communicated with the customer, did the work the customer asked for and then followed through and got the work done, the shop just might have taken off.
Jim had the opportunity of a life time to start up a performance shop with no money out of his pocket and then he ended up stringing along myself (the original ower) and then the second owner and all of SWTuning's cusomers. Am I bitter towards Jim, you're damn right I am and would never recommend him to anyone on principal alone.

I see your having 1 side of the story. If your talking about the last owner before SW Tuning closed then I understand why your info is so off base. I had dealings with said owner about 10 years ago in Stillwater that ended with an owner of the business stepping in and taking care of the crooked dealings. I cringed when I found out who actually owned SW Tuning, but I needed a good tuner. I realize it easy to bash someone because you know someone who doesn't like them, but you really should only speak of actuall personal experiences. I'm sure everyone can find something wrong about any tuner or anyone, but that is usually based on opinions rather than facts.

I'm not so sure you heard the actual story of why he came to OKC from Texas. You might research that a bit. You might want to check into the actual ownership of the software you say he ran off with.
I have not seen or used heads ported by Jim and I have never spoke with him about port work. I can't say anything about his work with that.
As for my car. I have a stock 99 LS1 which I swapped cam and springs.
The heads are not ported and never been off the motor, so they are stock 853 heads. My car made 378hp and 375 torque after Jim tuned it which are both close to what I expected. The car runs 11.70's and 11.80's easily. I've seen lots of people boasting the 400+ dyno numbers just dyning to break the 12.00 mark.
Oh, I just ran a quick check and there are not any warrants for Jim in OKlahoma County or for the City of Oklahoma City. There hasn't been any cases filed against Jim in Oklahoma County either. So your info in a previous post was incorrect. ANY REASON YOU STILL CAN'T PUT YOUR NAME WITH YOU POSTS?
so I guess that narrows down the choices then. I have had other recommendatations to call:
brett with xp racing - okc
Able in midwest city
Ed Wright - Tulsa
So anyone have any horror stories or success stories with any of the above listed? I really want to find someone that knows ls1 motors and how to get the most out of them. I'm looking for track and street performance
When you said there wasnt a need for a performance shop in OKC I quit thinking that there was even a slight possibility that you might know what you are talking about, if you would like I could get you names and addresses for about 10 of them which is a bunch for a small city.
Also if you can show me 1 business in the world that doesnt have a disgruntled customer or 2 I would be SOOOOOOOO surprised

Everyone I personally know who took their car to Jim paid a LOT of money for nothing. Jim claims you couldn't install a ported tb and drive around without hurting the motor. GTFoutta here. He sold his tunes to anyone who had a catback on their car, telling them they needed it.
On the other hand you admit to not liking the owner, but get a tune from them anyways. All the shops around OKC and Tulsa know what he did. I wouldn't let him work on my lawnmower, let alone recommend him to a fellow car enthusiast.
