EDIT: 10/1/09 - (Post by Crankshaft) - Houston Corvette owners, we sure could use your help right now.
Space City Corvettes and Parkway Chevrolet are 2 days away from hosting a very unique charity event to raise money for Texas Equusearch and the Pearl Finchner Museum. Texas Equusearch, which is our Fall Car Show charity is a local search and rescue organization that is based in Dickinson, Texas that was formed by Mr.Tim Miller whose daughter (Laura Miller) was murdered and left in a field off I45 south in League City near Calder road that became known as the killing fields in the late 80’s.
Texas Equusearch has become the most recognized private search and rescue organization in the U.S. by many law enforcement groups. They have been instrumental in finding hundreds of missing persons with a group of dedicated volunteers.
This fine organization needs our help as our U.S. economy has slowed down, so have the much needed donations that drive this organization. Even though Texas Equusearch is made up of volunteers that take time off from there real jobs to do this, they need dollars to cover search and rescue cost. They have transportation, fuel, food, and lodging expenses etc to cover just to name a few. When the donations dry up, the search and rescues either have to cease or they fund it out of their own pockets. I know that they have gone out many times to search for people own their dime. Hopefully we can remedy that. For more information, visit www.txeq.org

This Saturday evening starting at 4:30pm at Parkway Chevrolet in Tomball we will be hosting a Car Show and Charity Auction to raise much needed dollars for this very worthy organization. The car show is going to be more of a fun event and to provide some eye candy for the all guest that attend. There will be trophies for class winners that will be judged by GM Techs and Service Managers. There will be a people’s choice award that will be voted on by the attending guest.
You don’t have to have a show car to participate. All corvettes are welcome regardless of age or condition.

At around 6 to 6:30pm, dinner will be provided by 9 different Houston area restaurants. You will have your choice of 9 different cuisines and a wine bar, beer bar, or a beverage bar stocked with soft drinks, ice tea, or water. You will be entertained by a top Houston area band during the evening. You will have the opportunity to peruse the Silent auction items and look over the live auction item program during this time.

At 8: pm the car show winners will be announced and the auctions will begin. There are items from every type of venue you can think of from wine baskets, to cam packages, to fine art, to a Colorado Elk Hunt, to Hotel packages etc. There has even been a late donation for a NASCAR Event with special passes. You name it; it has been donated and is on the auction block. Every dollar raised will go to charity. The auction should conclude at around 9 to 9:30pm.

Here is how you can help out. Buy a ticket for you and your spouse.
Bring your car out whether it is a show car or not and put it in the show if you can. If you can’t put your car in the show, that ok too. Take your wife or spouse out to a great dinner that will be catered by 9 top Houston Restaurants. You choose the food stations from whom you would like to eat from, it’s your choice.
Enjoy great wines from all over or a cool frosty brew or whatever beverage you would like. Mingle with a lot great people and possibly take home a great auction items.
Now here is the best part about this event. Every dollar you spend is tax deductible because every cent is going to the charities. Our charity organization (Texas Equusearch) is a 501C non-profit organization. You will have great time and have helped a great charity through your attendance. That’s a win win deal!
We hope that you can make it out and help this great organization.

Gonna try to be there in my new Grand Sport.

What passes for business attire in Texas?
I am traveling a tad light, did not bring a sports coat or tie.

Ditto that!
Great place to show your car with over 8 upscale restaurants serving great food, drink, and a live band to entertain you.
Lots of Tomball 2 Step guest to admire your cars with experienced GM techs to judge these Corvettes. Trophy's for all classes.
All proceeds from the car show go to Texas Equusearch. A very worthy organization.

I'll be there.

Save me a parking space next to Wendy - a VY Z06 and a VY Grand Sport side-by-side will make an interesting photo op.

Gala tickets will be sold on site I trust?
I am a sucker for charity auctions, but will likely pass on the EG cam and Elk hunt items!
