Congratulations on the C5! They are great road cars, you should have a great road trip getting it home. Where in Cal are you picking it up? I live in Texas and make the 1325 mile trip to the San Diego area several times a year. I try to plan my trip to get thru Tucson avoiding the normal commute times. They have been doing construction on I10 for several years and 5 offramps have been closed for a similar period. It's a mess to say the least, speeds are limited to 55 and it's closely scrutinized by photo enforcement. I try to get close to Las Cruces, NM which enables me to get thru El Paso, Tx early the next morn. Once again I try to avoid the commute times since El Paso is a huge city and takes about 30 min just to get thru since speed is limited. Remember the time changes en route! Once you get about 20-30 miles past El Paso the speed limit is 80 for approx 250 miles . As far as motels, I try to stay where you can park in front of your room. As long as the a/c works and the place is clean, I'm good! Lots of choices. I live a little southwest of Fort Worth so I take I20 where it splits from I10, so I can't help you past there. Pack up your radar detector and have fun

Nick

I live about 60 east of San Antonio and we make the trip to Tucson once a year. On the way back we typically leave Tucson about 4:30 am and are at home at 9:30-10pm that night (of course that going the speed limit roughly). Houston is about another 140 miles from our exit so that should put you there around 12-1 am.

Whatch your speed from about Exit 610 to 650 in TX the HP is pretty thick through there.
