Default AUSTIN TEXAS--Need help lowering on Stock Bolts

Is there anyone that has the know-how, that can help me lower my C5 on stock bolts? I'm willing to pay and/or help you to get it done. I'm tired of seeing that huge gap between the tires and fenders. Please help. I'm available most Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's.

I did this to my car - it's actually easy (I did not cut bushings or change out the bolts... just lowered on stock bolts). Do you have a jack and stands? If so, it may take about 20 minutes to lower the back and slightly longer to lower the front (jacking time included).

For the rear's once it's jacked up and on stands, you do not need to take the wheels off. Just two wrenches and a few turns and your done.

For the front - you need to take the wheels off or it's somewhat difficult to get to the bolt. Also, you may need some penetrating lube for the bolt to get it to loosen a bit as it's a hard turn. Then it's a few minutes on each side and your done.

Hmm.. I may be able to meet you sometime. My schedule this weekend and next looks not good, though, as I am working Saturday and leaving on vacation on Thursday next week.

If no one else chimes in, I'll get with you when I get back from vacation and we can figure it out.

It's actually easy - Hard part is just getting past the "I'm messing with my car" part.

Default Thanks for your help

CF Member 1SikVette has been gracious enough to help me out IMMEDIATELY. I'm very thankful that he was so willing to help out a complete stranger so fast. I'm on my way to his place right now to get it done.

For appearance sake, lowering looks great! However... If your suspension is not set up for it, ride quality and handling may suffer a bit if you go lower than 15mm or so. Also, it'll change your alignment, so watch tire wear. Good luck! I'm in Austin too, so if you see a blue Z with tow hooks, it'll be me.

Dropped the front as much as I could without cutting the bushings, same with the back (2 threads showing on the bolt).

Default Update

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply back. Been extremely busy here on the homefront.

I'll tell you what.....1SikVette is THE MAN!!!! He lowered my car in about 45 min and did an excellent job. It's amazing how much different it looks just by lowering it on the stock bolts. The rear seems to have lowered significantly more than the front did, but he suggests that I drive it a little more so that the suspension can settle. Right now, the rear fender sits about 1 1/2" above the rear tires, and the front fender is about 2". Sorry...I don't have any pics yet, but I will post some in the next day or two.

My thanks goes out to 1SikVette, once again for being so willing to help out another CF Member and without hesitation.
