Default Who's having a problem finding gas?

Wanted to fill the Vette for the weekend and had to go to three gas stations to find Hi-test 93, a little over 8 gals for $27.

Yeah what? I think I may try a little E85 at Randolph tommorow. See how that runs in the Caddy.

Sorry, if my statement may have confused you. I'm from the old school when it was Regular and Hi-Test for gas ratings and 93 was refering to the current octane rating system.

George, they were completely out of Ethyl at the 7-11 here in Allen

Seriously, the 7-11 at Greenville and Stacy Rd. was totaly out of fuel on Saturday. Had to go up into McKinney to fill up. Kind of weird...

For us really OLD farts.... How about some "white gas".. Remember that?

You could get regular, Hi-Test (Ethyl) or White gas.....

QUIZ:

What was white gas and what was it used for/in and why?

Dang, you are an old dude.

White gas was the original unleaded gas and was used in 2 cycle engines. As I remember Amoco was about the only supplier. Of course back then, it was only $.25 a gal. These kids today don't have a clue what ethyl even stands for.

I have always used QuikTrip gas and have not run into any gas shortages yet. Just wish the $3.15/gal wasn't the norm right now.

I always knew "white gas" as the stuff you burned in the Coleman lanterns - benzene? I only ever knew it at the hardware store.

Oh, yes I do - I remember when the Phillips 66 and the Sinclair across the street from each other used to put up the swinging metal signs with GAS WAR spray painted on them. Took gas to 18 or 19 cents and threw in a 5 pound bag of potatoes, a set of plastic bowls or some steak knives if you filled up. I was a kid - I guess this would have been 1967? 68?

I ran into this a few weeks ago. Refineries are shipping the summer formula right now. Due to limited refinery capacity, brief shortages are occurring. Things are back to normal in my area.

I only recall "white gas" as what my Dad would make me ride my bike up to the "GULF" station to get to run in the lawnmower and gas edger.

If I recall correctly - I think it was around 100 octane too!

I don't think I've ever seen 93 octane fuel in Las Vegas. I use 91 and it just passed $3/gal earlier this week.

My brother works for a pipe line company. He told me that tankers were coming all the way from Dallas to get reg. gas. I guess the is a shortage in the area.
