Default Starting a new Autocross Season!!!

I autocross with the local BMW club out at the Mineral Wells airport, and our first event is March 12th. It's a great location and the folks that run it are super!

The courses they set up are faster than your average Miata-spec courses, I'm just about always getting into 3rd gear at some point in the course.

Due to IRS laws they require that everyone that runs more than one event has to be a member of BMW National ($40 / year), but visitors get to run one event before that rule goes into effect.

Price is $25 for members, $35 for non-members, and you usually get 8 runs per day (sometimes more), plus fun runs at the end of the day for those that aren't worn out. All registration is done on-line via www.dlbracing.com, look for the LSCBMWCCA autocross event. You can pay via Paypal.

Rules are at the Autocross page of the club's website at www.lscbmwcca.org . Basically you have to have a helmet (they have some loaners, but after a few dozen people have sweated in them ), have all loose items out of your car, check your battery for security, brake pads with enough thickness, etc.

I'm sure there's more I need to add to this post, so feel free to ask questions.

It'd be great to see y'all out there!

Have a good one,
Mike

My daughter, her boyfriend (BMW 318) and myself will be there. Was waiting on my helmet to come in before I signed up.

I think there will be four Vettes for sure. Yours, mine and two friends (David, George) from the LSCC. Should be fun to watch you three duke it out for first in the Z class. I doubt I will make the top 6 time wise. I think my 2.73 gearing is going to hurt me. But I hope to learn a lot. So it is all good. See you Saturday morning!

I would encourage everyone to give them a shot. $40 well spent. The only down side I saw when I went is that the ran all the non-BMWs first to get all the gravel off the course.

Actually, they've gotten much better about that, after I whined about it. Now it seems like it's about 50/50. Also, by the time everyone makes it through the first heat, the afternoon heat is a bunch better!

Great that y'all are coming out; make sure and register online at www.dlbracing.com ahead of time.

If I can help, please drop me an email at mikebridges@charter.net .

Have a good one,
Mike

This is going to be great! I'm going to be there between 7:30 and 8:00 Saturday morning, and I'll try to get some spots we can all park together!

Have a good one,
Mike
