Mark Your Calendars PLEASE
Corvetteforum members through out the country are planning a Memorial Poker Run in memory of Jack78 on the third weekend of September 2004. We are asking for a donation of $20.00 per Poker hand, with all proceeds going to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in the name of Jack78. Last year we raised over $600.00 locally and had a GREAT time doing it.
We will be starting out at the Hooters in Ontario and end at the Hooters in Anaheim with 3 stops in the middle covering around 60 miles. If you are interested in participating please sign-up on this post.
Meet at Hooters Ontario around 9:30 am and depart for the second stop at 10:45am. Hooters management will open the restaurant for 10:00am if you wish to eat there. We should be ending at the Hooters in Anaheim at around 1:30pm for the awards.
A little about Jack78 written by CathDoc.
“Jack was a great man, and always respected on the Forum. He was always a voice of reason on the Forum, and was always willing to help anyone out and would (Quite literally) give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. In addition to the Poker Run, Jack and I and several other Forum members became close friends and would get together whenever time allowed, and Jack was a generous donor to the Lower Alabama Corvette Clubs Santa Cruise that winter.
Unfortunately, Jack was suddenly taken from us in April 2002 as a result of a catastrophic rupture of an undiagnosed intracranial aneurysm at the age of 47, leaving a wife, college age daughter, and a pile of friends who miss him a lot.
Three days after Jack's passing, Brian O'Keefe (LT4SilverEagle) had his aneurysm (Which had been diagnosed on an unrelated MRI) repaired.
Brian has subsequently begun serving on the board of directors for the Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
In Jack's memory, we attempted to stage the second Hooters Poker Run in September of 2002 but were defeated by Tropical Storm Hannah.
The second Poker Run took place on April 12th, 2003, and raised $610 for the BAF. Bob Moss (Violator) won the run with four queens.
Lets' hope this can grow into something special, and help keep the memory of Jack78 alive in the Corvette community!”
The Poker run will be a benefit with all proceeds going to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation here is some info on the foundation http://www.bafound.org/
Maps and more info to follow in about a week.
You can now register on line for the Los Angeles Jack78 Poker Run. The BAF website has a separate registration page for each event. Check it out; http://www.bafound.org/involved/jack78.php

Ok here is how it works.
We request a $20 donation per hand to benefit the Brain Aneurysm Foundation to participate in this event. In return for a $20 donation to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, You have a chance to win prizes for the best poker hand by selecting one card at each of the 5 sites visited. Each stop, will have a deck of cards, which have been marked. At each stop, you will get one playing card and add it to your collection. At the start you will know where the stops are, you can get there any way you want. This is not a timed event the objective is to have a good time check out the sites and arrive at the last site at around 1:30pm. The Sites you are visiting are going out of their way to let us do this, any business you can give them is appreciated. At the last stop the Person with the best 5 card Poker hand wins. I will have more than one prize so there will be other prizes handed out. The main objective is to HAVE FUN.
