Default 100 Octane Availability in OC?

Does anyone know of any 76 dealers in Orange County that actually carry the 100 octane unleaded racing fuel (http://www.76.com/products/76racing.asp)? Despite what it says on the company website, that "locator" link only finds local retailers, not (necessarily) stations selling their 100 Octane Racing Fuel. I used the locator to find CA stations, then called every one of them in zip codes starting with "9286" -- no luck.

Anyone...?

I filled up at the circle K on Bristol off the 405 and it screwed up my gas gauge. Can't get a response out of 76 about gas. Tried to get info from the station on how to contact 76 customer service and this Arab guy just stared at me.

Thanx for the feedback, and sorry about your trouble.

Yeah... I dunno what's with 76 either. They show a slick, well-engineered product on their website, but what good is it if you can't buy it anywhere?

In any event, one of the stations I called was very apologetic and helpful. He gave me the number for their customer service - 800 527-5476. HTH, and I'm gonna give them a call on Monday to see what they have to say about the 100 octane availability.

Also ask them about their Sulfur content.

Default 100 octane

The 76 at La Paz and the I-5 had it about a year ago. I don't know if they still do. I usually buy Chevron.

I used to use AVI when I was racing but I found out it works better at 10,000 ft.

I can vouch for this. But I, too, haven't been ther efor about a year. With the car wash and the snack shop the joint is usually very crowded. The upside is that the 100UL was at the pump instead of a wheel-around cart like I've seen at other places.

I have a 76 station down the street from me that sells 100 Unleaded. $4.99 a gallon. In the city of La Habra. On La Habra Blvd less than a mile west of Harbor Blvd. Was just there last week getting some.

Ahh, great! I was feeling a little uneasy about driving to MV for the earlier La Paz recommendation, since I couldn't get a straight answer from them on the phone. Plus, I have to be in Brea today, so La Habra is just a short drive.

The fact that they refer to 91 octane in CA as "new" makes me wonder how current their info is. If accurate though, this is a very good tip also. I'll check out the supplier in Orange.

I regularly drive by a filling station (not a regular gas station) that has a sign stating "Racing Fuel" or something to that effect. This is off the Lakeview exit from the 91 freeway. The city is either Anaheim, Yorba Linda, or Placentia. I can check it out for you if you're interested. Lemme know.

Sure, if you don't mind, I'd be interested in another possible option. The place in La Habra has it at the pump, so it's pretty convenient (except La Habra is out of the way for me). I'm also going to try and check the place in Orange over the weekend.

If you can, verify that this is unleaded fuel. Lots of places sell racing fuel, but finding unleaded stuff that can be added to pump gas is the trick.

I decided to go this route because the earlier thread on DIY racing fuel ran the gamut w/o drawing any real conclusions. Buying 100 octane at the pump seems safe and convenient, and the 76 website even has a table showing octane numbers achieved by adding various amounts to 91 octane.

There's a place on the corner Newhope and 1st in Santa Ana that sells VP Racing fuel. It's not the Chevron staion there but directly kitty corner from it. I was able to get some 106 there.

I purchased some at a 76 station in Newport Beach....Unfortunatelly I don't remember the exact address...but I do remember that I went down the 73 to get there. If you call one of the stations in NB they can probrobly tell you which one has it.

Someone earlier recommended that you put Aviation fuel in your car....DON"T DO IT. Even though Av gas is called 100 Low lead...it has way too much lead in it for automotive use.

76 station on the corner of San Miguel and Bonita Canyon Drive in Newport.

I filled in a tank once (OUCH!) and there was no difference. It's a waste of $$, IMO.

As far as I can determine from the VP website, they don't offer a 106 octane product. Do you remember what color it was?
