Default Anderson Chevrolet dealerships gone?

It looks like the 3 Anderson Chevrolet dealerships in the SF Bay area are gone. I knew that the one in Cupertino was closing soon, but I thought the other 2 were staying. I visited the Los Gatos one last week, and discussed ordering a C6 in the spring. The Anderson Chevrolet dealerships were once owned by John Anderson (now owns the 2 Courtesy Chevrolet dealerships). He sold the 3 Anderson Chevrolet dealerships to AutoNation about 10 years ago. Apparently, AutoNation did not do as well as they expected. The 3 websites now show AutoNation info, and when you select a make, Chevrolet is not one of them. Hopefully, nobody ordered a car with them. Anyone have any more info?

I talked to them last week, before I purchase my 04 CE.
They wouldn't deal so I moved on. When John owned it he was one of the largest Corvette dealers in the country. When Autonation took over they quickly lost that title. No loss that there gone, except that it leaves very few corvette dealers in the Bay Area that would deal.

Parker-Robb from Walnut Creek is gone, too. Parker-Robb used to be the largest Corvette dealer in NorCal before handing that title over to Anderson when Parker ran into trouble in the 90s. Since then it had returned to be a volume Corvette dealer, but now it is also gone.

I miss Parker Robb, too. They were among the five best price bids I got for a 'Vette, and only 7 miles from home; needless to say, I shopped there first, and bought there, too. I also thought they had a pretty decent service department.

Yes, I will miss Parker Robb a great deal, as I just don't get the warm fuzzies at all from the Stead dealership group in town.

Well, I drove by Anderson - Cupertino, today, and most of the cars were gone. It definitely is going away. Apparently, it was in a bad location - not part of an "auto row". However, I stopped by Anderson - Los Gatos, and they are still in business (as is Menlo Park). It sounds like they are for sale, but if sold, will remain Chevy dealers. The Moore GMC, Buick, Pontiac dealership next door apparently is interested in expanding. and adding another GM line.

I talked to Parker Robb quite a few times over the past few years and they were never willing to deal on the price of their Vettes. I took my Vette there for service and they were OK until Mike left.

I took my Z06 to the Cadillac dealer in Walnut Creek for the recall and my loaner car is a Cadillac Deville. I asked for the XLR but they only had the Deville or a Escalade.

I'm taking ours to Mike over at Fitzpatrick even though it's a little further to go. He has been very helpful and his background gives me a little more confidence when I get the car back.
The number of Vettes at Courtesy for the C6 rollout says that Anderson is planning to take over for the Bay Area since nobody else seems to be stepping up. I found Ken Fichtner because Parker Robb, Crown and the San Leandro dealer didn't want to deal. If they sold all their stock guess I'm no loss to them unless they wanted more allocations for the future.

I was told that Fitzpatrick only gets about 10 Corvette's per year.
Be sure and request that Mike works on your Corvette, he is the best. IMHO
When it comes to heavy duty stuff, trans, rear end, engine someone
else will be working on the you car since Mike does not do heavy duty.
I would guess that other dealer in the area will be picking up
new allocations given up by dealers closing.
My next Corvette will not be coming from any local dealer.

i just got my '04 z from anderson los gatos about 2 months ago. sure seemed like things were fine. wish i could've gotten it from a forum dealer and support their biz (i called every one), but unfortunately nobody had what i was looking for in stock (torch red/mod red z).

i also got my '99 way back when from anderson menlo park (before i knew about the corvette forum, unfortunately).

when i was in there, anderson los gatos had a commemorative z on sale in the showroom with a $5k dealer mark-up. i had a good laugh at that one, given what i paid out the door for my z. some sucker's gonna grab their ankles...

all salesmen at both places (menlo and los gatos), in my experience, are dumb as a stump when it comes to corvette product knowledge, but i didn't care. i wasn't there to learn about the car from them, just to buy it. the salesman at los gatos worked with me for quite awhile (a few weeks) while i was going back & forth to negotiate. ken, i think was his name--good guy.

the deal i got on the z at anderson los gatos was as good as any forum dealer. that's the only way i would do it. otherwise i'd have waited a couple more years for a c6 and gone to a forum dealer like ken fichtner or karl johansen, who have earned a mountain of praise (and deservedly so).

Anderson's in Cupertino is closing down. I don't know about the others but all I know is I got my C-6 order at MSRP at Los Gatos.

From my own personal experience with Anderson/Cupertino - no love lost there. With over 30+ years of buying vehicles from one dealer or another - the Cupertino dealership was by far the worst I've ever had to deal with.

But don't forget you have to go through the hassle of doing a drop shipment and that is another fee or what will cost more is if you arrange for your own transport. Either way you have to do one or the other with out of state purchases unless you drive it back Like mueseum delivery but then you have to worry about all of those road hazards debris pebbles scratching up the front end unless you get a bra or X-pel.

Ken,

I could not agree more. I always thought it would be a convenience
to have a Chevrolet dealer only a 5 minute drive away. However,
they never fixed my Z28 or Corvettes right the first time around.
I always had to take it back a second or third time. While the
lot is empty and looks baron, there is not love-loss from this
local resident.

yeah i wish i could've done museum delivery! i've been wanting to do that since i first got into vettes. someday...

i upped my local budget by $500 relative to forum dealer pricing since they had it in stock, because, like you said, i'd have had to pay the drop ship fee anyway if i bought it out of state.

anderson treated me right, no complaints. i went in there armed with 4 years of c5 ownership experience (and i specifically told the salesman to not bother with selling me on the car unless they know these cars inside out), all vette option pricing comitted to memory, a check in hand and a written offer from another local dealer in costa mesa (connell). told anderson to not waste my time and if they match the connell #, they've got a sale. in the end, i got the car i always wanted at a fair price, and they got the sale. win-win.

the power to say no is the best leverage in the world.
