It looks like I need to replace the left differential seal again. The previous owner had it replaced once by the dealer. Unfortunately, I’m out of warranty now and the dealer wants $795 to replace the seal. This seems a little steep to me, especially since a dealer has already fixed the problem once. I don’t mind spending the money for a quality job. Does anyone know of a good shop in the Orange County area where I can get the work done? Thanks

J&D is ok for normal odds and ends, and they're fairly flexible as far as their schedule and rates are concerned. I'd use them for maintenance outside of what the dealer's rates are reasonable for, however I'd likely use them for maintenance only. As far as mods are concerned, I'd either use Andy or LAPD . . . that's about it, shy of doing the work myself.
Unfortunately, the OC area is fairly devoid of really good tuners and shops -- the valley is the best / closest we have. Not saying that West Coast isn't a good shop, but they're somewhat limited in what their services (from several folk that I've talked to and heard from).

BEST CORVETTE MECHANIC in Orange County is Steve LuVisi at Automotive Expertise in Huntington Beach. BEST being overall quickest/cheapest/best work/knowledgeable and most of all HONEST.
When he works on my Vettes, he often doesn't even charge me. Took my '91 in for rough idle, oil change, charge system check-up. He checked/tested/cleaned the injectors and idle was still rough. He checked the plugs and wires and still rough. He took the car over and it it re-done on a new, high tech machine... still rough. Seems to be an exhaust valve on No. 2 cylinder. We are trying a new hi tech lubricant not yet on market, and this seems to be helping. Car runs a whole lot stronger after the cleanings. Because he didn't actually fix the main problem, NO CHARGE at all, not even for the other work!
On my NCRS '70 he used to change out non-stock stuff to stock stuff all the time... no charge. (He has Top Flight '68 L88, and a '65 Fuelie Roadster.)
When J&D totally screwed up the installation of the rear end in my '64 causing it to self destruct the first time on the strip, he put it back together better than new. (They left the freekin' U-joints bone dry!)
When he ripped the dash out of my '91 to change a relay, he's found a way to do it much quicker than by the GM book. So, he charged actual time rather than book fees. He does this kind of stuff all the time.
I could go on! Only problem is he keeps quite booked up and you may need a couple weeks lead time.

I`d recommend J&D Corvette anytime, I used to take my 93zf6 there. They did a clutch, water pump, alittle rear end work too. I sold it, maybe looking at a C-5 when the C-6 come out. Question, would you take a C-5 there? I don`t remember seeing any
