We're home safe and sound ! First thing I'd like to say is THANK YOU to Stan & Karen, our most incredible hosts ! Our weekend was AWSOME in every way ! Thank you to the sponsors - what a treat! We truely do appreciate the nice things you do for us ! As a friend of mine said recently, the cars brought us together but at some point it really becomes about the people. Strangers end up being friends and family. Thanks to everyone for a great weekend!! (Yes Wayne I still luv ya) :D
Re: Pizza/LAPD Death Valley Cruise in the books... (stano)
An amazing experience from the foot of Mount Whitney to the floor of Death Valley. This run exceeded our expectations and they were high! Stan and Karen you are the best , you treated us all like family. Thank you! I am quickly coming to believe that Corvette people are among the coolest in the world (and funniest too). Kris, thanks for posting your pics so quick and getting our car in front (being at the back of the pack finally paid off). :seeya

Wow - what a great time!
Stan & Karen: Thank you sooooo much for all your hard work putting this weekend together. Simply an awesome job and everything went flawlessly!
Little did I know that a simple chit chat at a scenic overlook a few months ago on Rte. 74 with you two would lead to such a monumental event! Well, like I said, FANTASTIC job, and thank you so much!

Great photos, Jon!!! Can't wait to see the video..
Thank you, Stano. If this weekend's event is any indication, the Lone Pine Run will become a real classic.
To those who missed it, my condolences! We were taken care by Stan and Karen at every turn and the people on this run were a class act (okay, except for the farm animal episode..... )
My thanks to THE PIZZA FACTORY!, LAPD (in particular!!!), grzldvet for the Zaino (man, I wanted some of that, too), Vettesnmore, Corvette Garage, Jim (jmsvet) and Bluerag for the great raffle items.
Thanks also to the LP Best Western (I stayed there and it was VERY comfortable and clean...I recommend it.), Seasons Restaurant, and the Furnace Creek Inn for accommodating us.
I hope to see LOTS of pictures from everyone posted to this thread! I just got home (noon Monday) and will post what few I have later.
I met some fabulous new people (Angie and Troy, and Noah to mention just a few) and some "old" faces were there as well; Larry and Kitty, Joe, Jim, Chris, Jon, etc..
There are some GREAT roads in that area, my friends!!
Personal stats: 886miles..24.2mpg overall....an additional 2lbs added....one very dirty C4....and a bucketful of smiles.

Stan'O & Karen'O
What a great event, 758 miles of a great time. To say that you really went all out would be an under statement. It was only a few months ago I met you and yet it seems that we have known each other for years. So many great memories will last a long time from this event. And a special thanks for the vendors who supported this event. As if it wasn't enough to just drive this event these folks supplied a great array of prizes one which I was lucky enough to win. ( Talk to you soon Nate)
LAPD, Nate @ Corvette Garage, Vettesnmore, S. Paski @ Zaino Bros, Best Western Lone Pine, Four Seasons Restaurant in Lone Pine, Furance Creek Lodge, (Jim) jmzvt and (Stan) bluerag, and the folks at Furnace Creek Inn (Dave Woodruff), a first class operation.
Just a few closing comments.
Jeff Best of wishes on your return to the east coast. I have those curb feelers on order from Pep Boy's The Ventura mafia gang ( Mike, Michael) Thanks for letting me in on your drive. Your great folks, and Mike you have some great kids. Wayne I have a collection going on that 12 Volt ice cream maker. Joe I'm going to buy a liift kit for my car so I can see over you. :lolg: And for so many others that I met It was really nice spending the weekend with you all.
Re: Pizza/LAPD Death Valley Cruise in the books... (stano)
Stan & Karen,
Just so the whole forum knows what a great time we had at the Mt. Whitney/Death Valley run.
This was our first trip with the forum and my first post to the forum as well.
Thanks again to your sponsors for their support of this event and for your hospitality to the Lake Tahoe Corvette Club participants who made the trip through ran and snow. We had a wonderful time.

Re: Pizza/LAPD Death Valley Cruise in the books... (stano)
Stan & Karen,
We had a wonderful time in your fine city. Beautiful scenery, nice people, cold beer, and the best tasting pizza I've had since my Italian grandmother died 20 years ago (NO :bs ). My car ran great, we made it home safely, and we can't wait for the next gathering. Thanks to all the sponsors and attendees who made this a great event.
Re: Pizza/LAPD Death Valley Cruise in the books... (stano)
I'm speechless...but I'd like to express my gratitude to Stan & Karen in as few words as possible...
I forgive you for the weather reports you posted, & I believed, while I was driving through the rain in my freshly detailed car on Sat. morning.
I forgive you for the torture you put me through everytime I cleaned my car BEFORE you mentioned I had to cross another patch of dirt just to clean it again! (I know you just wanted several demonstrations so you could start off on the right foot when you finally start to clean yours).
I forgive you for thinking I own stock in the California Duster and didn't contribute as a sponser for this wonderful event.
I forgive you for offering, & buying me a turkey sandwich for lunch, delivering it, but not allowing me to actually eat it until 4:30pm because your itinerary kept me so busy I only had time for fun, not food!
Speaking of food, I forgive you for tricking me into eating your great pizza, drinking your bottled & draft beer, then not serving me breakfast on Sunday morning.
I forgive you for not serving ice cream at your pizza parlor...at least I think I do?!?!.
And finally, I forgive you for owning a Millenium Yellow Corvette (and everyone else that owns one). Contrary to what I've heard, this does not make you a bad person.
To everyone else, I forgive you for laughing so much. Events like this with "stuffy" Corvette owners aren't supposed to be this much fun!

Now you're talking! I can't wait!
Oh yeah, forgive me for the smile I still have on my face as I'm writing this.
THANK YOU!!!!
The Tourist
PS.
The mod list is for all who asked as I don't usually post this as my signaure.
