Relocated to OC....Opinions on good dealers or independent shops for service??
:seeya First of all hello. I relocated (back) to the area in November from Northern Virginia. Man, the traffic sure has gotten worse here in the last ten years. All these drainage dips and steep driveways haven't been kind to my lowered 98 either.
Anyway, I was hoping for some advice/opinions/recommendations on your favorite dealers or independent Vette shops in Orange County, for service work and repairs for my C5. Details and reasons why you like a particular place are welcome. Thanks!

Haven't used them myself, but FNC80 (Alex) has had good things to say about Connell in CM.

Beat me to it Steve! :D
Connell Chevrolet on Harbor Blvd. in Costa Mesa. After getting the brush off from Newport Automotive, which is actually closer to where I live, I took it to Connell and haven't looked back. They're a family-owned dealership and have treated me real well. They've fixed things that weren't under warranty and taken care of problems with no bs.
Talk with Todd Mack in service and tell him I sent you. Todd drives a white C4 with a 318 and a custom paint job.
Welcome back to OC!

Thanks for the info! I feel a bit better now...
Ironically, I took the Vette in to Connell last Wed. to have them look at it. It developed a noise in the valve train on cold starts just before I got here. They're still working on it....they took the valve covers off and didn't find anything wrong, so they will remove the heads next. Todd Mack is my service advisor, so I'll mention your endorsement...hopefully they will treat my baby well. :yesnod:
And thanks for the welcome! :D

You might try Corvette Mikes on Tustin in Anahiem, just off the 91 Frwy.
J & D Corvette on Alondra in Bellflower west of the 605 Frwy.
Both good shops, pricey at times, but care about your Vette. Mike has some awesome Vettes in his showroom, too.

I bought my '70 at Corvette Mike and they are stand up guys. There were a couple of items that needed attention on the car when I bought it and they took care of them before I took delivery. They've also got a great aftermarket selection for C5's and killer cars in the showroom.

Try Coast Corvette. Very nice people. The place is run by a Christian brother. :yesnod:

does your shop accept 1source auto warranty work? i'm thinking of getting it, and am basing my decision on good independant shops' wilingness to accept it.

I used to use Zelman Chev in Tustin when I lived up that way. They found a problem with my 88 that now one else could in 90K miles.

Scott at The Corvette Shop in Costa Mesa is the man!! He's very close to Harbor and Baker on Logan street, great guy to deal with and a top notch mechanic.
