2004 West Coast Corvette Challenge race schedule is up!
It's time to get out your 2004 calendar and your pen! Yes, folks, after two months of considerable effort, we are very happy to bring you the 2004 WCCC racing schedule! J
You will notice that we incorporated several of your ideas for the upcoming season. Whenever possible, we attempted to work around NHRA events as well as some of the larger Corvette events. As of today, we do not have the schedule for the Super Chevy Show at Pomona, but if it conflicts with our schedule, we will attempt to modify it accordingly.
For the new season we will, again, have scheduled 10 races. Of those, eight will be at our reliable and friendly home track of LACR. The event in May will be at The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the June event will be at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield.
When you check your calendars, you will notice that all of our races, with the exception of March, are scheduled for Saturdays. This was done in order to accommodate those folks with families who travel long distances to participate in our races. In this way, they can spend more time with their families on Sundays...and catch a few NFL games. :D
Several of you also requested some night races, particularly in the hot summer months, so we have also arranged with LACR to have two of our events scheduled for the evening time! The July and September events will have gates opening at 4 p.m. on both of these events and we will go until about 9:00 p.m. or whenever our bracket racing is completed. Bernie Longjohn, the track operator at LACR has made this possible for us. Thanks Bernie!
I want to express my gratitude to Bob Blackmon, Barrie Bennett, Dave Dowdell, Steve Cool and several others for providing valuable input into the 2004 schedule. We hope that this schedule will be even more racer and family friendly to all of our participants and their guests. Go team!
