[9-7-03 EVENT] Patriotism, Corvettes and Laguna Seca
I was looking through the Corvetteforum’s archived Topic’s and came across the Stars Stripes post where the flag was carried from Blaine Washington to ground zero in New York. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=277982 http://temp.corvetteforum.net/events..._Stripes.shtml
It got me thinking that maybe we could do something special.
Since the race is only 4 days before 911, what better way to
stand together in a show of Patriotism then to bring small flags to decorate the Corvette Corral area. If each of us would bring a couple of flags and maybe some cable ties, we could attach them to the fence and Corral tent. What do you think?
Anyone have other ideas of what we could do?

Hi Ray,
I had occasion to re-live the Pacific Northwest Stars & Stripes Tour last week. Klaus and Linda Klix, the S&S start coordinators, were visiting at our home for a few days during their "second honeymoon" tour. We had a great time.... We viewed the S&S special video Klaus sent after their visit and it brought back so many good memories.
We were at the "Thunder in the Mountains" Corvette show at Whistler B.C. two weeks ago, staying with Vancouver B.C. Corvette Club Administrator Michael and Barb Moore - that is a spectacular show you'll have to check out someday. Several people who were there asked about the tour and your name came up a few times (all good! ;-)). Lot's of great "Stump Ranch" memories...
We'd like to ask you and Daws to display a flag for Klaus, Linda, Sue and me if you can. I believe Michael, Barb, and all our many Canadian Corvette friends of the USA would appreciate your dedicating a flag for them, too. We appreciate the good, thoughtful thinking by you guys to help make the Laguna Seca ALMS event extra special.....
 :flag

Is Klaus taking good care of my car? :)
I have the Canadian flag given to me on the tour that will be flying at Laguna Seca. Be sure and watch the race, I'm sure you'll see the Corvette Corral and flags on TV. ;) :flag

I'll bring the flag that was flown leading the contingent from Oregon to SF. All I have to do is find the safe place I stored it in...:)

Hi Ray,
If it is warm enough on Sunday my wife and I will wear our matching red, white and blue "Corvette - America's Sports Car" t-shirts. In any event we will wear our red, white and blue stars and stripes hats! I will also look to buy a couple of flags when we go to dinner tonight. Great idea!

"CALVette quote, "It got me thinking that maybe we could do something special."
Fantastic Idea!! Here is my contribution to Sundays races (if I can make it, as I may be going down to LA to pick up my car on that day) This is what flys at all the CF events and race days... :)
VR

Nice flag, but it does not fly at "all CF Events". Your not at all CF Events but your sure welcome to attend this event hosted by GM.

Does anyone have a Canadian flag? We NEED them:
1. Our great neightbors to the North!
2. The 'birth' country of some of the finest Corvette drivers!
3. The birthplace of ALL C-5 engines!
Anyone???

I think GM will also make the C5-R drivers available for a private autograph session at the Corvette Corral. Be sure and go to this link if you need a corral pass. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=633061
This is a shot of the autograph session at Sears Point. I need to find that picture of the women that had her shirt signed.
Other pictures from Sears Point can be found at. http://barbear.net.berkeley.edu/alms.htm
