Bay Area Paint Shop?????
My friend who is a horrible driver backed into me tonight just as we were about to leave for dinner and left a bunch of scratches on the paint @)!$*
!@)$!)*@$!@
no dents but need to go get the area touched up. does anyone have any recommendations for paint shops in the bay area (preferably east bay)? I've done a search and came up with a couple of shops.
1) ***** O'hara's Corvette Body
2) PREMIER Body Shop
3) L+M body shop
What do people think of these shops and are there any other shops in the east bay that I can go down to?
Thanks in advance

I use L. A. Smith & sons in San Leandro, great results on my '87. If you call them, ask for "Kirk the Painter" and tell him it's a referral from me. That probably won't mean a hill of beans, but hey....... maybe he'll give me a break when I get my hardtop painted
Seriously, they did me right on my repaint a few years ago, then once again a few months later after I rear-ended this big 'ol Mercedes........ and now I gotta have it touched up again :cry

EDIT: I noticed you're from Stanford, Cooks also has a shop in Redwood City.

Premier worked on my car. Fisheyes in the clearcoat, in several places, and leftover masking tape, was stuck on my car. Now I'm left with swirl marks, from areas they had no business touching in the first place. Stay away from them!!!! :cry :smash: :mad :mad :mad

Superior Body Shop in San Carlos. They did the work on my '99 black coupe when it was hit and run. They work on a lot of Corvettes; in fact, when mine was in their shop, my Vette was joined by three others! Excellent work, and the owners are former C5 owners. :yesnod:

I've heard BAD things about O'hara's.
I went for an estimate before I checked him out.
My experience is that he's a flake.
It's a one man show.

I've also heard good things about L. A. Smith & sons. I really like the Moeller Brothers on Lewelling Blvd. in San Leandro. They ain't cheap, but there is awesome quality and attention to detail.

Last night I noticed the Viper owned by Dean, who has posted on the forum in the drag thread, at the Sacto Drags who had it custom painted and he said it was done by someone in San Jose, nice work.

I've seen some of his work close up (friend got rear-ended in a 2k2 Z06), the Z06's tail cap fits better than factory, FOR SURE.
Summary: Good. Slow. Very slow.

Cooks is OK but I think the best paint guys are B & S Hacienda Auto Body on Old Santa Rita RD. in Pleasanton. 847-8789. First hand testamonial, 3X's and perfect first time all 3 times.
I have no idea how they are with Corvette repair (glass work) but paint they are great.
Good Luck,
Cam

Re: Bay Area Paint Shop????? (SHOWTIME!)
do a search in the archives......not good.......
Saw 2 good reviews, 2 bad.
1 bad was bad color matching. Ok, I'll believe him.
The other bad was: "he wasn't open on fridays". There's something to look for a body man. The other two say top notch cars.
And I saw a Z06 that was color matched perfectly and the fit was better than stock.
This guy knows his stuff. He knows all the body stuff on vettes like the back of his hand.

I've really heard lots and lots of good, just that he takes forever and a day.
That color-matching thing is the only bad thing I've heard. If you've ever gone to his shop and looked at the projects he's got going on, he does everything very delicately. I was looking at C3s with body panels that fit like they came off a Benz. Quite awesome.
Even if you don't plan on having work done, you should try swinging by and looking around.

Would be really nice if there was a miracle shop with a good turnaround, did only vettes, and wasn't astronomical!
