good C5 alignment shop in San Jose ?

Custom Alignment and Northstar Auto. Both are in Mountain View. Northstar is a Corvette-specialty shop. Custom's price is $160. Don't know about Northstar's.

$160 for an alignment?! Good God! :eek:

I had mine done at Genuine Automotive in Los Gatos. It was $80 I think. I wouldn't waste my money unless you have aftermarket suspension stuff and want something really aggressive.

They have the stock C5 and Z06 specs in a database and it's pretty much a no-brainer. A computer and lasers do most of the work.

If you don't mind traveling go to Kraus Racing in Castro Valley. They do some awesome work. Should cost $120-$150 for all four wheels. Depends on the size wheels you have :cheers:

Couple of years ago I went to Custom Alignment in Mountain View with my lowered Supra. They are AWESOME. I had taken my Supra to several places before and they were never able to get my alignment right :mad . Went to Custom Alignment and they spent over 1.5 hours (I waited and watched) to get it perfect. My alignment was so out of wack and they were able to get it right. They get a HUGE :thumbs: from me. If you want it done right, they are the place to go.

160.00 is a bit high ...
But if I had an alignment rack I'd do it myself....
It is an easy job.....
Anyone got a rack I can borrow/rent ? ( not holding my breath but hoping....)
I know what adjustments / alterations I'd like to make.
I know when I was turning wrenches I hated when I was bird dogged.
My buddy used to do it for my C4 but he moved......
I did alignments for 6 years and almost all the customers whose cars I tweaked would only let me do their cars. It got to the point I had to have them make appointments.

I used to have a lifetime alignment with Sears for a TLC. I think the price at the time was 75 bucks. I had the tires rotated balance and aligned app every 5k miles!

The point was that Sears has the lastest Hunter alignment gear! So the real question is whether or not you trust them with the job.

No I wouldn't trust them.
I used to work there and I got the investigation started in '89 that busted the with the B. A. R.
There was one guy I trusted there but he moved away.

Maybe you ought try a couple shops and ask them if you might rent a rack after hrs.

I can attest to Northstar. The improvement in feel and handling was amazing. The stock GM specs have wide tolerances that can result in less than optimal performance. They will align according to your typical/desired driving environment.
