Excellent, I will be out of Gilroy around 11:30, and should be up there around 12:30. I will talk to the locals for a lunch spot and let you know via IM
Steve
Ok, how about lunch at the "Prince of Wales" on 106 East 25th Street. It is right across from the fair grounds. About 12:15 PM http://www.bayareabest.com/SMCT/
It was excellent, some very interesting cars and spectacular paint jobs.
After painting the 85 myself this summer, I have a huge appreciation for what goes into a show finish.
They had a gorgeous tutone silver 61 Vette and the infamous Nomad Vette. Then we saw a bit of the weird, there was a van painted with a space mural. The mural was to a degree alive with led's(?) so stars would twinkle, rocket ships had red, orange and yellow lights flashing simulating flames. It even had a couple of astronauts sitting at a table having a beer :jester Not my style, but it certainly was attracting the attention

Re: Grand National Roadster Show (Grzldvt)
Linda and I had a wonderful time with Grzldvt at lunch and at the show. Every time I go to this show, I really get jacked up to restore my Datsun 510 originally purchased in 1972, and put in that 5.0 Ford I have been planning. Maybe the economy will allow me to do that this year.
Some nice cars at the show, a friend's recently completed '49 Oldsmobile was on display, but I think that the overall show was less than what I have seen in the past.
Thought we might see Perry and some other Corvette owners, but we didn't.

Re: Grand National Roadster Show (vetterdstr)
Steve - saw a few pretty amazing cars. The '61 Vette mentioned above was really nice - two tone paint (metallic silver with graphite coves). The same custom shop (Creative Concepts) in Santa Rosa that did the Vette also brought a '56 Bel Air that was blue/ivory that was my favorite of the show. That same shop also did a lavender pearl Nomad, two woodies (one a rod and one a really nice restoration) and a nice highboy. Roy Brizio's shop brought their usual outstanding group of rods. There were two outstanding Speedstar rods, including an indigo blue one that knocked my socks off. I think there were fewer rods that last year, and there were a few more truly outstanding ones last year, but there were definitely some really good ones there this year. I've got 15 or 20 digital pics of the show in my camera, including a few of that '61 Vette - I'll try to get a chance to upload them & post a few in the next day or so.
Steve & Dexter, thanks for the info. I bet it was quite a site to see all those great cars. I have another car I want to start Modding into a street rod. Looking forward to getting started on that project when I get a chance. :)

Re: Grand National Roadster Show (vetterdstr)
Here's pictures of a few of the cars:
This is that Meguiars Corvette/Nomad
This is the '61 Vette I referred to earlier
Here's a picture showing some of the front wheel detail on that car
This is a very sweet '56 Belair that was my favorite
Here's a nice '56 Nomad
This is a woodie done by the same shop that did the '61 Vette and the '56 Belair
Here's a yellow Speedstar
And a blue one
And this one is, well, ORANGE - the picture doesn't do the brightness justice

Re: Grand National Roadster Show (vetterdstr)
Thanks - my GF was reasonably tolerant of my wanting to look at each and every car in detail, but there's a limit to how long she'll follow along and say distractedly, "Yeah, that's nice," , so I didn't get pictures of everything that I would have if I'd been there by myself.
