Hi Ray and Herb,

You're welcome to join us any time! You guy's know you're welcome to stay at my home on the way up if you decide you want to do it. Grzldvt mentioned he might make the trip too... We can put you all up at our place.

We have people from the Northwest planning to join vetterdstr and his big party in SF, and you guys can be a part of the Wash/Or super cruise if you wish. We're all working very hard, from the Canadian border to San Diego, to make this a Pacific team effort that will make us all proud.

You both know how great these events can be when good people work together with a teamwork approach -- we have a committed team of talented organizers up here, and it shows.

Klaus Klix (K2) has a great send-off organized for the start. We have special permission from the Peace Arch Parks Committee to take pictures on the grass (weather permitting). We have a motorcycle escort through the city of Blaine with Fire Department Pumpers from several cities planning to participate. Clubs and Forum members from Canada and all over Washington have indicated they will be sending people. That little city is "alive" with anticipation. The two hours of activity planning by Klaus will ensure an exciting and fitting send-off for our event, our flag and our country. Donuts, coffee, parade, perhaps a band, very short speeches, a raffle and photo opportunities of all types are planned for the mix.

Tim *** (gunnertac) takes over the planning soon after Blaine as we begin our Tour down I-5. We're expecting a police escort through the cities of Ferndale and Bellingham. We will be making about three stops at Fire Stations to pay our respects and meet up with other Corvette groups along the way. A lunch is being planned at one of the Fire stations. We'll have a "major" stopover for the Tacoma/Seattle/Olympia area Forum members and clubs for book signing and photo opportunities. Tim's doing a super job tying as many stops into his leg as the limited time allows. I worry we're going to have the whole I-5 freeway clogged with Corvettes, fire trucks and police escorts.

We'll arrive that evening in Portland for an overnight stop. John Campbell (corvettj) has a big night planned with lots of local clubs and individuals participating. Hot dogs, cokes, a raffle -- several hours of surprises and fun are planned that will make this a big party for Portland/Vancouver and others accompanying or joining the Tour.

The next morning we have a send-off from Portland to meet up with Dennis Hough and his stop in Eugene. Eugene is still "under construction," but we can expect to see the same high level of activities and support from Dennis shown by Klaus, Tim and John.

I think you guys, and anyone else wanting to join the Tour should do it. It will warm your hearts when you see the support and enthusiasm expressed, not only by Corvette people, but by all kinds of citizens who are showing us with their smiles what we're bringing to them with this very worthwhile event... Some of you thinking of joining us would make the whole Tour just that much better....

Terry

This is gonna be fun, I can tell. Let's hope the other regions have just as much excitement planned.

At one time, there was talk of a chase group from Portland going up into Washington to meet up with them and parade back with the whole group. Is that still an option? I don't see it on any of the itineraries, which is why I ask.

Jeff,

Tim is taking care of the major stop arrangements and locations from Northern Washington to north of Portland. We expect many people will join us at different locations along I-5, and we would invite them to caravan with us to the next planned stop.

We would prefer people join us at pre-determined locations, and for the sake of time, it appears we'd be unable to actually stop to pick you up unless Tim can fit something in for you. But if you, or a group you organize would want to join us in motion prior to the overnight Portland stop, and cruise into Portland with us, that would be super -- we'd just have to pick you up while moving! John will be the person to talk to about who he plans to select to carry the flag into and out of the city of Portland.

That black C5 of yours would sure look good in the line-up from Blaine to Portland..... you should think about making the whole trip from the Canadian border to Portland with us.:yesnod:

Stops are still being finalized, and we will have to make a very quick flag transfer just prior to Portland, so keep in touch for new info as it becomes available. We still have eight weeks to go. I'm looking forward to seeing all you guys at the big partys in both Blaine and Portland.

Trust me ... the thought of running up to Blaine, and all the way back down to Portland has crossed my mind. But I don't want to have to go home to the west side, change cars to the way:cool: '67 , and drive over to the east side for the evening festivities!! :conehead

I have been following all the discussions about timing of stops and the like, and I certainly understand. I was in Seattle this past weekend, and I scoped out where I'd go to turn around to get to that area.

I've thought of bringing my digital camcorder to video the caravan passing underneath a bridge, or something like that.

It also depends on some external factors that I may need to :boxing .

Jeff,

I should leave my C5 coupe in Portland and drive your 67 to Blaine. :D I haven't driven a 435 '67 in thirty years! That's my favorite Corvette of all time... :yesnod: :yesnod: I owned several new ones....

It's too bad GM didn't do something similar to the '67 for the 50th. I can picture a C5 with some kind of specially painted stinger hood, different louvers in the sides, different wheels and a high-tech 427 motor. A major opportunity missed by GM..... My order would already be in if they had!

Terry,
Looks like a sure bet that I'll be in Medford when the flag comes through.
I'm also going to be in Bowling Green for the 50th Kick off and may just stick around to see the flag there.

Terry,

Do you know if the hotel in Portland has DSL service?
I'll be uploading some pictures and videos and would rather not use a dial-up.

CALVette,

I just called the hotel and the connection is indeed "dial up". Sorry.

Thanks for checking that out, Tom... I think John or one of the other Portland guys will have DSL to help Ray out. We may be able to talk someone into using their connection Thursday evening.

I'm going to have four digitals and one film camera in action, and others are bringing several video cams. Klaus has some pro photogs lined up so we'll have a ton of stuff to download. We may also want to burn them on CD's in Portland if we get the opportunity. All my digital cameras are Olympus using Smartmedia, so I'll bring my USB download stuff as well.

Jeff mentioned he may be making video's somewhere around Longview as we pass. It would be super to get copies of those as well.

If anyone else gets any really good video at different locations along the way, be sure to get copies to us - we'll use them! We may also be able to get copies from the TV/Radio stations. Gonna be a 1200 mile party!!! I hope Klaus,Tim, John and Dennis don't over-feed us along the way! :D :D   :seeya

Ray,

Thanx for the invite, but I think that's a little further north than I'm willing to go at this time...it sound like everyone is set to have a good time.
