Looks like I am out of the Corvette Challenge for 2010 (I barely even got off the grid at the first event, overheated and never got a timed lap). The car needs an engine rebuild or new motor now. I can't justify it at the moment. I'm parking it until I hit the lottery (unfortunately, I don't play the lottery, so winning is pretty unlikely).
Have fun guys. My next track car will very likely be a Honda S2000.

Sorry to hear that Richard. I was looking forward to running against you in the stock class. Why dont you keep the vette as your track car? With the money you would be dropping on an S2000 you can swap in an ls2/3/7 and turn it into a beast

Funny Rich I was just looking at one of the Honda S2000 park in our
inspection lot today I've always liked them I was thinking of getting one as a daily when things get a little better
how much are the high reving ones going IIRC it was the first motors that were in them. BTW you will still make the events in the EVO right? Hey wait a minute I'm sure one of the sponsors have a motor sitting around in the shop from a swap they could give you a great deal on so you could get back in the game.

That's exactly the point. I can buy a new motor and much needed extensive suspension work, and what I will end up with is a beat up C4 with a new motor and better suspension.
Or I can spend that same money for a track-prepped S2000 and never look back. The choice seems obvious. I only wish I hadn't wasted all that money track-prepping the C4, pulling weight out of it, etc. etc. But it's water under the bridge, and I'm not about to throw good money after bad.
If I had it to do over again I might have bought a C5 Z06 prepped for track (or built one), but now with all the $$ sunk into the C4 that I can't get out of it, that's no longer an option.
DH - I thought you were BONE stock or are you good enough to run with the modded cars
Dan
C6Z06 stock are in the SuperStock class. Add anything and you are in MOD. I have R6 tires right now. But since I corded my two fronts last week its possible I may show at BW with stock tires .....

Very bad news.
But if you would cut back on all your track days you could buy cheap old engine and be back winning trophies

Yeah, you can buy used LS6s in good shape for about $2k. New LS6s are $3,800. I don't know what the best solution is for the ECU, but I bet one can be picked up for fairly cheap.
