Why no points for Laguna Seca?

What happened to Spring Mountain? Closer than Laguna Seca with no noise restrictions.

The team felt the turn-out would be too low for a Challenge event at Spring Mountain... at Laguna Seca we'll have a small SoCal contingency, but we should get the No Calif Corvette guys and hopefully will impress them enough to come do some SoCal events with us And we couldn't do a Challenge event on their Corvette Day

The Sound restrictions at LS are very easy to get around... Last time I ran there was with Mark (Magstar)... and he didn't have any problems

Why not use LS as a tie breaker so it has some value. If you make LS a test for no points you are sealing its fate...no one will show up.

Hey Dreamin don't send my trophy. I'll pick it up from you at next challenge.

I'm sure July 10 – Laguna Seca (exhibition event) is a lot cooler than Spring Mountain that time of year.

Don't forget guys that decisions had to be made. There is no way everybody's wishes could be met, but everyones opinions were reviewed.

We have one more track day than last year (not counting LS, Richard ). Plus we are running 4 tracks instead of 3. And you can skip one if you want and still maintain your point standings.

This is a work in progress and the executive committee is trying our best to make 2010 bigger, better and more fun than 2009

Feb 20 – WSIR
Apr 11 – BW (CW)
May 1 – SOW (CW)
June 12 - WSIR
July 10 – Laguna Seca (exhibition event)
Aug 14 – ACS
Sep 26 – BW (CW)
Nov 21 – ACS

*Exhibition event: No points / no trophies, but we will have a Corvette Challenge drivers meetings, timing/scoring, and an after event ceremony with results and gift certificates awarded.

(CW) We will run SOW and BW clock-wise so no C6Z06 guys that are afraid of left turns need worry.

Why don't we change one of the BW events to a CCW direction then we would have 5 tracks since the track is quite a bit different when running in reverse. If we were worried about c6Z06 guys, then we should not go to ACS. Besides, don't we all now have the new LPE oil tank.

It will be hard to get drivers from SoCal to go to Laguna for a one-day event. Is Sat. July 10 part of a weekend event with SV? I might go if I can run for two days, even though the Challenge is just Sat., but I don't see driving a car with no air conditioning, no radio, racing seat and harness, etc. etc. a 700 mile round trip for just one day on the track.

+1. I vote for # 25-CCW. It's a much better course for Corvettes than # 13-CW, which all the ricer time attack drivers are stuck on for no reason other than that they are sheep.

The problem is that it's an SV event, and Aaron only runs # 13-CW not because he likes it, but because he gets two to three times as many customers because all the ricers will only run 13-CW. That's what the ricer magazines use to compare lap times. I'd volunteer to try to convince Aaron to run # 25-CCW if there's support for it in the Corvette Challenge community.

Howie -

I do appreciate all the time that the organizers of the Corvette Challenge spent arranging the schedule, lining up sponsors, revising the rules, getting trophies and t-shirts, promoting the events, etc. etc.

I prefer club racing to time trials, but I attend these events because they are fun and the Corvette guys are a good bunch.

I'll accept that the schedule is what it is, but if you guys ever manage to get a date at Infineon/Sears Point, you'll find out what a true professional road course really is.

I just saw that you folks are coming North so I'll try to make your LS event. It may be of interest to you -- Santa Clara Corvette Club is running a two-day Corvette-only autox at Marina Field on the 10th & 11th which I will run now only on Sunday. They put on very good events and the location is concrete and about 10 miles to the N of LS.

EXACTLY! We argued for #25 and #26 (very long back straight)... and Aaron said he'd have to charge four times more than normal... cuz he'd only get 1/4 of the attendance as the Ricers Boycott anything but #13CW
