Default The 2010 Corvette Challenge !!!!!!!!!!

The executive committee wants to thank all the drivers who participated in the 2009 Challenge. This is all about YOU GUYS & GIRLS !!!!!

As promised here is your opportunity to give us feedback and ideas to consider as we start preparations for the 2010 season. We want next year to be bigger and better in every way possible.

Please comment on anything you like but here are some issues to consider.

1. Number of events
2. Which Tracks
3. Rules Changes
4. Which days of the week
5. Which months of the year
6. Trophies
7. How gift certificates are allocated
8. Challenge fees

1. (1) Spring mountain
2. (2) Streets of willow
3. (1) infield Auto club speedway
4. (1) auto cross day
5. (1) Button Willow
6. (2) Auto club Roval
7. (2) WSIR
You maybe able to have the auto cross and infield events together.

I hate that course. Horse Thief Mile at Willow Springs would be much better.

Ok, here are my thoughts.

1. I think 8 events is a pretty good number.
2. The more variety the better. Some tracks are much more challenging than others.

We should run Buttonwillow at least 2 times and I would recommend one time CW and 1 time CCW. The track is very different when running in different directions.

I think we should run the Streets of Willow and big Willow once each.

Let's try to throw in Spring Mountain, preferably the 3+ mile version.

Why not schedule a date at that new track east of Palm Springs

Let's run ACS roval and the infield once as well.

I would be in favor of a Laguna Seca event.

3. I think we need less classes. It does not make much sense to have 1 or 2 cars in a class. Maybe just have unlimited, modified and stock. Then maybe we should distinguish the different generation cars by giving penalties in time based on the mods (every 50 or 100 points brings about a penalty or 1 second, 2 seconds etc) and car type. This is probably not very straightforward, but worth thinking about.

4. The weekends are where most events need to be, but for a special day at like Laguna Seca, I would be in favor of a Monday or Friday.

5. January through May or June. Let's do Sundays in the fall as I am a big college football fan on Saturdays.

6. Trophies - 1 at the end of the year. Maybe just some sort of ribbon at each event. Lets keep the cost down.

If you guys want to run a real, professional racetrack, how about an event at Sears Point/Infineon Raceway?

Laguna Seca has a very restrictive noise rule. A lot of our cars wouldn't be able to run there.

Auto Cross is not road racing. If we go that way why not one day at the drag strip for some 1/4 mile fun.

+1. It's usally 92 dB measured from a sound station that's on an uphill straightaway. It really ruins the whole experience.

I'm thinking no on Auto Cross ..... we can do that in any Home Depot parking lot after closing time.

I'm also thinking no on drag strips .... there is already a local competiton for this. And who is going to be happy with an 11 - 12 second session

Would less classes increase competition and maybe do hp/weight formula for A,B,C class?

I didn't participate with you guys this year, but i watched the threads (and saw the videos and pics to follow ) and if anything it would probably be to some benefit to have less classes. Increasing car count in each class increases the fun; at least in my eyes. I would really like to make it out to one of these, and I think adding buttonwillow would be a decent idea.

I'm sure BW will be in the schedule as it was in 2009.

So start planning to make a commitment to get out with us

Ouch. You hurt my feelings DH. The problem with autocross is, you have to have driving skills to win.
