Local CHP Motor Biker Hurt !!!!!!!
Some of you may remember Tony ..... his user name was the vehicle code for speeding. He also at one time had the baddest NA C5 Z06 in this area. He took me for quite a ride since we were not too concerned about being ticketed. He would stop by while on duty at our local Newbury Park get togethers while the GOCC was in its infancy. He would show at the A&A BBQ. He was very into his Vette. His beat was in the Ventura area and I always expected him to pull me over as I would go thru there to work in Santa Barbara once a week.
Anyways, one day near the end of last year on my way home from Santa Barbara there was a BIG delay on the freeway. Traffic was backed up for miles, and was being diverted thru the center divider. But the focus of the news was that a driver was killed. There was however a CHP motorcycle officer who was also hurt. For some reason I didn't pay attention ..... maybe I was on the phone, I don't recall.
Well yesterday I got a PM from Tony asking if the local meets still were going on. AND come to find out ..... he was the down CHP officer. He was very badly hurt, hospitalized for 6 months and has been thru hell ... and still is partially paralyzed.
Tony is one hell of a tuff guy, I think you gotta be to do what he did for a living. He also has great inner strength ...... his new user name is: WheelChairBoy
If you want to check out his whole story or drop him a line go to his website: www.pedeferri.com

Hey Tony, as a long time motorcycle racer I am cheering you on! Keep on the mend and I hope to see you out soon.
We have never met, but it sounds like you are working to keep your injuries from slowing you down. Bravo!!!

I remember Tony and that badass silver C5. One of the first cars to hit almost 500 hp normally aspirated. I always wondered what happened to him and that car. Tell him the GOCC would like to see him again when he is ready.
As a matter of fact Stan you met him too. He was one of the early success stories that came from LAPD.

We should make sure the GOCC is there when he wants to come out

I for one take good fortune for granted way to often. It's time I pose and reflect how fragile our lives are from one day to the next. A tragedy in ones life is also reflected to ones circle of family and friends.

Tony,
We are all saddened to hear about your misfortune, you guys lay it on the line for the rest of us, sometimes literally!
It`s good to hear that you`re on the mend, please let us know if there is anything your Corvette brothers can do for you.......
Hope to see you at a meet soon!

Although we never met I have several acquaintances at CHP and good friends on your dept. and several that are car enthusiast as you are.
I know that there were other career paths that you could have chose but you had a calling,
Peace officers are a special breed; you are the first responders in a person’s darkest times. When everyone is running in the opposite direction of a problem you are running toward the problem with the uncertainty of what you’re going to see but the certainty that you will handle that matter to it’s conclusion or when properly relieved. I wish you well in your fight to overcome this unforeseen hurdle in your life. I’m sure you will stay strong and not give up the fight to recovery.
