Bakersfield Hotel Recommendation

We'll be driving up for the BBQ prior to the Famoso track rental on Saturday, 1/19. We're wanting to book a hotel in a safe area (mostly worried about parking the car over night). Is there a certain hotel that other track rental participants will be staying at?

Suggestions of where to stay and what to avoid would be appreciated.

I don't know about where this event's attendees will be staying, but when the big drag races come to town, many of the hot rodders meet/stay at the double tree or the red lion across the street.

For eats, Milt's and Zingo's are popular with the hot rodders as well as In & Out on Panama lane and Chuy's broiler on Rosedale hwy.

When you come up the 99, exit at Lerdo hwy and turn left on Zerker road. This will be more scenic as you drive thru the orchards
