- I spoke to Aaron Bitterman at Speed Ventures. He is kicking in a $25 discount certificate from Speed Ventures for everyone who attends this meeting. We can use it for one of our track side meetings at an upcoming track-day, perhaps Spring Mountain in March?
- Aaron also committed to giving us a free track day for Laguna Seca to raffle off at an upcoming club meeting.
- Aaron also wants to get a Corvette Challenge event going at his events where we can drive in Time Trials for trophies, fame and fortune.
- I am working on a couple of other things I hope to be able to announce

Can we have a session on how to hook my tow rope to Oli or Terry's back bumper when they go by on the track? Or maybe we could have some tips on how to steal one's apex with minimal damage.

Also since I am going to SOW .. I will now know as much as Oli does about driving.
Also since I am going to TWO Speed Venture events next month I think you (OLI) should ask Aaron to give me a $25 discount for NOT showing up at the meeting

Bah . . . . aside from the apple fritter I'm getting for me, ya'all are getting whatever they throw in the box
It starts with special donut requests . . . Next you're going to want something other than the "special" alignment specs.
. . . . maple glazed buttermilk. I was wondering why I could only think of donuts all day . . . .

We had a great Corvette Track Addicts club meeting today. We opened the meeting with introductions. Everyone got to state their name and their online forum handle. They then told everyone what got them started in tracking their Corvette.
The meeting was turned over to Terry Free. The group had eight specific questions for him although due to time we had to limit the answers to four questions. The questions were:
Eric Fritz/EMF covered an hour long session on pre-race/pre-track-day car prep. He provided a fabulous checklist that is now on the club website.

Eric did a dexterious job of handling specific individual questions and the session proved quite valuable to all.
We all then went to Fuddruckers and spent a couple of hours eating, drinking, bonding and sharing fabulous racing stories and no one wore out a single tire or over-heated their brakes!
Fastest regards,
Oli
The meeting was turned over to Terry Free. The group had eight specific questions for him although due to time we had to limit the answers to four questions. The questions were:
- Should someone go to a trackday and then go to a formal driving school or the other way around? The basic answer was it does not really matter, just make sure you get to a formal school as that is hugely beneficial. The veterans in the room leaned towards doing a track-day or two first to make sure you like it before spending money on the school. Also, some felt that more could be absorbed from a school with a couple of track days under the belt.
- The next question was what is the best "racing" school to attend. Hands down consensus is that the SCCA SuperSchool is the way to go. It was noted though that they don't teach car control and driving technique in these schools. The main focus of this type of school is to make sure you understand flagging, how to drive in race traffic two and three abreast in corners, practicing race starts, etc. Some differentiations were brough up about the expensive race classes like Bondurant, Skip Barber, etc. that in the extra day they provide some driving technique is covered. It was also pointed out that the SuperSchool is a busy weekend so bring a friend to help out.
- How does one best set-up a car for both street and track use?
- A discussion on the benefits of a HANS Device and what it is like to use one ensued. This talk was very informative for all the folks considering a HANS, but who have never used one.

Good to put faces with names, and talk to everyone in a setting where we're not all running around all day
Thanks Sean for putting a roof over our heads, and Oli for taking notes -- guess that means Terry isn't the secretary this week

Wow, really wish I could have made it guys. Unfortunately I was one of the few that had a conflicting schedule during the day. I really need to get with Oli and Terry next time I see you guys at the track and pick your brains... I need every ounce of knowledge I can absorb!
