Corvette Fatality in Lancaster
Just heard on the 11 o'clock news tonight in L.A. that two people in a Corvette collided head on with a Ford truck in Lancaster. Both vehicles burst into flames and both occupants of the 'Vette perished. I didn't get any other details.
I saw that on the news this morning, the report stated the Corvette was going over a 100 mph. The Corvette had wagon wheels, so it must have been a 97-99.
Saw it in the paper yesterday, with more details in today's paper...Not a head on collision...A few pics in the LA Daily News, Antelope Valley section...not a pretty site.
Article said driver was Terry Noll from Jacksonville, Florida and passenger was driver's brother, Philip Noll from Rosamond, CA...next town north of Lancaster. Both were in their early 60's. Don't know if either was a CF member or not.
Article went on to say that the 'Vette was traveling at a 'high' rate of speed at about 9:00PM and the P/U driver saw the car in the distance, and thought it was safe to cross the intersection. He turned in front of the 'Vette and the 'Vette hit the P/Us left rear corner, and both vehicles caught fire. Article said the two 'Vette occupants were badly burned and will probably require dental records for 'formal' identification. The P/U driver escaped with minor injuries.
Investigators are trying to determine how fast the 'Vette was traveling, and whether the crash was the fault of its driver or the P/Us driver who pulled away from the stop sign. I've driven that road often, and it is a flat area for miles, two lane road with posted 55 MPH speed limit...probably hard to judge a car at 'high' rate of speed...

Oh... I wonder if alcohol was involved at all. Interesting that it was the visiting brother who was driving. What a terrible way to go... I lost my mother in a car accident several years ago. It still hurts.
