CHP radar...New tactic

A few months ago I saw the same tactic on I 505 north of Fairfield. The CHP and some Sheriff's guys were on the side of the freeway. My detector told me it was radar they were using. They had 3 people pulled over down the road. I guess their technique was working pretty good.

I admit my error in saying that lidar can not be handheld but stand by my statement that it must be stationary. Also as a resident of Pa. I can tell you that only the state police are able to use radar & they must be stationary when using it. To the best of my knowledge the state legislature has not made lidar legal for use in this state. Pa. has the strictest rules of engagement of any state in the union on the use of radar. Local police departments for years have been screaming to be able to use radar locally.

While instant on can be deadly, many times my V-1 will pick up a short burst from instant on being used up ahead.
That's why one beep/one light from my detector will always have me hitting the brakes.

Also strange was the fact that my radar detector had no signal approaching her and only a few blips when she aimed it down the road (actually I was almost past her when she drew and took aim and not in her line. But my detector usually picks up a signal regardless).
Wonder if (a) this is a new practice and (b) are they now turning these on and off instantaneously?

Ture about them being extremely reliable, after the copy gave me my ticket he let me play with the laser and took the time to show me how it all worked and why a detector is a waste of time against them. He suggested I buy an Ipod instead.
