Anyone have any good experience with a window tinter in Southern California... Preferably one who can apply black vinyl to the dots on the rear window or otherwise prevent the air bubble issue.
I was referred to Carlos Cordova (Quality Glass Tinting) and he did a great job. He does mostly high end cars. He painted over the dots and he also sands the tops of the windows so you cannot tell at all where the tint stops at the top of the window. He is not cheap (cost was $400). He is in OC though 714-630-0111 .. He also does 3m clear coat which I might do as well.

Thanks, ocnatv, I really appreciate the reply. That does sound steep but I don't have much experience with dealing with the dots. The dot sanding/painting must be labor intensive. So, that may be fair...
I knew it wouldn't be "cheap" and believe me I don't want a "cheap" tint job... not on this car. Thanks again...
BTW, what is the 3M clear coat? is this for the paint? How much does that go for?
I have always paid around 180-250 for my past cars so when he said $400 it wasnt exactly easy to swallow. However, I have always had problems over time with previous cars and I didnt want this to happen with the Z06. After talking with Carlos he made me confident he knew what he was doing and the tint looks noticaeable better.
The 3m clear coat is a clear plastic film that is installed on the front and sides of the car that are exposed to the elements on the road. If you drive the car alot or track the car I would definately recommend it. Also, the installer for this product is very important because it goes over the paint and you dont want it to be noticable. He quoted another $400 with the tint. Otherwise it would have been more.. Good luck..

Interesting, and thanks, would you use the clear coat in lieu of a bra or both? I'm planning on going to Willow Springs so I will need some form of protection..

Thanks in advance...
I had mine done at Sunshield Glass Tinting (101 at Van Nuys Blvd), they did a great job, think I paid about $120. It's been on my car for about 4 years, and not a hint of a bubble. Their phone number is 818-906-8468.

He has been tinting cars for at least 20 years and been doing mine since 1989.Does cars for most of the local dealerships....Clippenger Chevrolet for one.
He does a process for problem glass (curved windows, glass with dots)that he calls "flowing".Where they remove the glass and put it in their "clean room".Then he uses a special liquid tint on the glass.
I was a little worried how the tint would hold up over the years. He liquid tinted the back window in my 1969 Camaro in March of 1990 and it still looks great.

Of course, I will definitely give him a call on Tuesday (according to their voicemail - closed Sun & Mon), but may I ask what this process cost; either for just the rear window or for 2 sides and a rear window?
And thank you for the reply!

Thanks Tri-Tip, how did they deal with the dots? I had the dots on the rear window of the Cobra and it looked sort of hazy around the edges due to the fact that the tint couldn't surround the dots. I am hoping to avoid that look on the Z06.

XLNT Tint in Anaheim. Great service. One piece rear window tinting along with black vinyl applied to dot matrix. They have plenty of C6 experience and also do show cars.
Kris Cruz at XLNT stands by their work! Very professional place and nice showroom/offices.

Thanks Mr. Lucky, there sure are plenty to choose from between this thread and the one you linked me to. I will just have to call all the ones with the higher recommendations re: price and their means of coping with the dot matrix issue. Xlnt seems like one of the favorites here.

Another vote for XLNT Tint. I've had four cars done there, including the vette.
Thanks guys, and to everyone that replied. I went with Xlnt and I am very pleased with the results. The job is wonerful. Black vinyl eliminated bubble issue with the dot matrix. The application is very neat, full coverage, no gaps, no bubbles. Excellent workmanship.
One of the best features they offer, which no one has mentioned and is very important in CA, is the "no-questions-asked-strip-and-retint insurance" which cost only $40 extra. If I ever get a fix-it ticket or just want a different tint, they will strip and retint for free! In CA this is a great idea! First time I've seen it.
The film that they used is the 3M Carbon (Non-Interference) film. It offers superb, true-gray color and incredible clarity. No issues with reception.
