Let me explain that a bit better. Carlsbad is closed, no more open street days at Pomona. I'm not sure of another quarter mile track in So Cal other than Bakerfield (Moroso I think) and possibly Irwindale.
Might have 1/8th mile tracks around - here in San Diego we have one at Barona, and occaisionally at Qualcomm Stadium. IMHO 1/8th mile is just too short for the Vette.

Couldn't agree more. Barona is nice track but often hot and the DA is usually not so good. I'm moving to Florida at the end of the summer and the only local track is another 1/8th mile.......

i was at the Irwindale Speedway yesterday, i was surprised with the turnout. lots of fast cars, including trailered ones. maybe 8 vettes ran while i was there. one went a whopping 130 mph on a 1/8 track. just a spectator, but not next week. suggest you go there early, pretty crowded around 7 pm, and most were imports rolling in.

Bakersfield (Famoso) is currently being re-paved (Yay! After 40 years!) so that's out.
Fontana is also currently closed because they are changing things around(Yay! concrete launch pad!)
Pomona, you just missed your once a year chance to run there. The super chevy show was a few weeks ago.
It says in the rules that helmet is required if quicker than 8.59
is the Z faster than this?
Could well be. An 8.59 is about 13.4 in the 1/4 and if the Z can't do that, send it back! Still, you may get a few passes before they tell you to put one on (if they tell you at all). And, they may have loaners.
Come on up to LACR sometime. If you run in the 13's, no helmet needed. Battery holdown, overflow for your radiator...Weds nights the traffic is light, I leave the valley about 7 and have plenty of cooldown/run time. Fri night seems impossible, too much traffic. You run a bit slower than you might at Famoso, but stilll fun

That was my vette, red 63. I went a new best that night of 5.279 at 130.8. I will not be back out there for a least a month, gotta have shoulder surgery. Stop by and say hi sometime.
