Default Clear paint protection shop in SoCal info here.

I've been looking around for a local place that does this (3M, Llumar,...) and think I've found one. They're doing the ceramic tint on my car today, and I'll have them do the Llumar job soon. Cost for the ceramic tint is $265, for the paint protection is $630. The $630 price is very reasonable, comparable coverage at other places I've called run from $850 to $1200. Also, if you want regular dye tint, it's $170. Just some FYI for local members.

PS: I have a question for those who have had clear paint protection done, my car has 3500 miles with various minor chips from driving. Does it matter if I get this protection done now, or should I repair/repaint/retouch those chips first, then apply the clear protection. I don't think the chips are that noticeable anyways, so I might just go ahead and have them put it on.

Thanks,

Does the covering you are having installed reduce your RADAR signature?

Is this like the cleartastic or 3M adhesive laminate or is this like a paint clearcoating?

team5150: dye tint is what most cars get. The darkness level is due to the black dye in the tint, and it will fade over time, anywhere from 3 years and older, depending on local condition and if your car is exposed to the sun and how much exposure,..... With ceramic tint, there will be no fade over time, and therefore, the shop will warranty against fading lifetime. Both types of tints will get warranty against peeling and bubbling, which is pretty standard. The dye tint does not have any warranty against fading.

NORTY: I don't know the answer to your question. Do you mean if it'll make your car more invisible to radar detection by cops?

xtream1: this is like a clear plastic covering. see www.llumar.com
