Courtesy in the south bay has the most cars, never was that far south when looking so didn't price there. Up in the east bay I don't think anyone really deals which is why I went to Fichtner in Montana for both the Vettes we own. I'd say Forum dealers would be the best bet.
As for service, I've never had an issue at first Parker-Robb (gone) and now Fitzpatrick, with my out of state buys for getting good service but Mike Kellog is probably the best local in the upper east bay for knowing Vettes. Good luck.
I, too, ordered out of state from a Forum dealer. Just got back from NCM delivery so haven't had servicing experience. But StArrow68's comments are consistent with what I have heard from other vette owners.
Courtesy Chevrolet has been running an ad in the San Ho Merc (usually in the sports section), over 20 in stock with two available at $44,995 (one in SJ #136609 and one in MH #136591). Not sure if this is good or bad...
While all Chevrolet dealers sell Corvettes, most are not Corvette dealers. The difference is that Corvette dealers get an actual allocation of Corvettes rather than being given a Corvette now and then for meeting various sales targets.
Courtesey is a Corvette dealer and the largest volume Corvette dealer in the west. The biggest in the country is Kerbeck in Atlantic City, I believe.
I got mine at Sunnyvale Chevrolet for $2000 under MSRP, while all the other dealers were MSRP or more. Courtesy has the most, but I have not heard of anyone that got a discount there. The 2 for sale at $45K are base models, so that's close to MSRP. The salespeople at Courtesy are less knowledgeable than most.
Thanks for whom responded so far , I didnt know any dealer willing to deal on Vettes until I got on this forum, to whom had brought their Vette from out of state can you walk me throught the buying process lil bite? like how you arrange finance and if you have a trade-in, what about the anal Cali's emission?...have seen forum sponsor dealers will to do 3.5k under MSRP on their entire inventory! is very tempting, but they are all on east coast....anyone have experince with "vettenet"? they do have office on socal, and they will to take 2k off on new 06's ...thanks again!
1. Don't worry about emmissions on the C6 .If you can't pass the smog test you will be the only one.
2. You will work out the financing before you sign your name on the dotted line. The dealership will do as much as they they can to get you in your car including the financing. If buying out of state they will send you the paperwork.
3. Get a courtesy delivery to a nearby dealership or have the selling dealership help you find a transport company to deliver to your doorstep.
Maybe just a little more detail:
GM and I think all others now make all cars 50 state legal for smog. The option for CA emmissions can even be ordered for a car delivered in another state but it really doesn't make any difference. When you pick up the car you have two weeks to get back to CA, take the car in for a smog test which gets its VIN into the state system and then pay the licence fees and tax at DMV. I say two weeks since that is how long the temp tags from Montana are good for, other states may vary.
On financing it is just a matter of if you want to do it yourself like through a CU and then have to get everything arranged local or if you want the dealer to handle and then deal with mail, etc.
Courtesy delivery is just one dealer ordering a car and arranging for the factory to deliver it some place else. Back a few years ago several dealers charged around a couple hundred bucks to do the local paperwork when you pick up the car. Some Chevy dealers wouldn't do it since not much profit and they want to force people to buy local, but it seems several had good luck with Caddy dealers that would be glad to do it.
I've now brought two Vettes back from Montana and except for test driving used Vettes and service I wouldn't spend more than 20 min's talking to local dealers. Both my deals with Ken Fichtner took about that long to finish with 2 emails in each direction and the fax of a signature. Why anyone in an internet world would let a local dealer hold them hostage for hours is beyond me.

I bought my vert at Kerbeck and had it shipped directly to me. Kerbeck did the prep. I use Gilroy Cadillac/Chevy as my service dealer. They don't have many corvettes but they have a great tech named Dennis. Service is good (probably because of Cadillac). They provide loaners through Enterprise Rentals.
