I live in Hayward and am willing to travel up to 100 miles one way. Anyone knows of a great/experienced transmission shop. I've got A4, and am looking to get the TransGo shift kit installed. It comes with a lot of springs, and tons of other crazy looking parts. Just wanna make sure the guy who works on my car is experienced and well trained. Any suggestions...

Thanks...

Have you looked into Synergy in Fremont? or Newtech in Hayward?

Go to Penninsula Transmission, 1038 W Evelyn, Sunnyvale 408-739-8405
Ask for Pete the owner. Very experienced with Transgo install (inclulding my A4). Pete is also a member of Santa Clara Corvettes. Did it while I waited (about 2-3 hrs I think).

He's run the place into the ground. Their reputation has gone to the dogs since Lee sold the place.

Go to Ron's on El Camino in Sunnyvale.

I called Pete, they don't reprogram the computer (PCM), which is required on cars after 1998. Also, reprogramming the PCM would give the benefit of actual shift kit.

Keep em coming guys... any more Tranny shops for automatics, or shift kit installation places...

Actually this is not quite true. Some cars may need some computer programming. My 2000 didn't. I traded email with Transgo but they didn't seem to know how to tell in advance. They said it only happened with very few cars. You can confirm this on their web site.

Raj,

Try MSI in Roseville, they're a forum vendor. Check out their website www.motorsportimage.com and give them a call. They only work on Vettes and I wouldn't go to anyone who didn't. Had them do some work on my car awhile back, very pleased.

It's probably a 2 hour drive for you from Hayward but I bet you can schedule the work in the morning and wait till it's done and drive home the same day. It was worth the drive for me.

Tim

I guess I won't know if my car needs reprogramming, UNTIL I get it done. Question is - If I DO NEED it, they won't do it anyways... I'll be going to a Tuner and paying extra for reprogramming PCM. SO, I'd rather stay with someone who has the facility to do everything.

Tim, thanks for your suggestion. I'll give em a call and find out about their service and pricing on it. I have heard of their name before, and I understand they work on track/race cars. That's cool.
Thanks, Raj.

I have had Pete work on my vehicles and he does top notch work. Of course, I always request that he does the work personally. I don't know about his staff, but he personally is the best.

Raj, I think you answered your own question about where to go. Go to Synergy. Rick is a tuner who certainly has the facility to handle whatever problems you have with your tranny. They are on your side of the Bay as well.

Sure thing my friend... but I've been calling them for over a month. My dates keep changing all the time. Everytime I'm ready to take it in, I get a call, and I'm told to come in on the following week, cuz they too busy wid other cars. Now I'm scheduled for 10th Oct. Lets see if I get it done.

Finally, got the Transgo kit installed by Synergy.

Car's tranny temps have gone up by 30*, which should've have happened according to manufacterer, thunderhill racing, and a few others who I've asked. The reason - still don't know. I can't figure it out and neither can they

Another added noise has started to show up coming from the rear, possibly from exhaust or something loose... not sure what it is.

Does anyone know how why the tranny temps would go up. I do have a tranny cooler, which was running everything very cool before this installation. Plz reply if you can think of anything at all..

Thanks...
