Location: I got to drive the TRUCK! (Sears Point, CART Race)
Reno-Fernley Ocotober 22-23rd
T.E.A.M. Racing has decided to take on the task of presenting another AWESOME event at one of the West's newest tracks -- Reno-Fernley Raceway ( www.reno-fernleyraceway.com )! Cost will be only $175 for one day, $325 for both days. Details on the event are at www.team-racing.org As always, this event will include morning coffee service, snacks, Gatorade, bottled water, catered lunches, instruction, and at least TWO HOURS of track time! Won't you join us?!?
Questions or concerns should be emailed to teamracing@weatherwax.net We hope to see you come play in the mountains before the snow bunnies take over!

Just spoke to a gentleman with a 2003 Z06 last night who will be attending this event. I hope he's not the only Corvette there! That'd be awfully lonely. It'd be nice if at least a couple more folks signed up -- that way at least he'd have some folks that could keep up.

I am with you there, Eden . . . anytime I get a chance to go on track and work out the kinks, the better. I hope to see lots of Corvettes out at this event . . . RFR is great for Corvette fun (read as -- lots of fun horsepower turns!) -- well, at least, that's how I've seen it when I got the chance to drive a few.

New Section Is Open!!!
Great news!!! Reno-Fernley will be offering us the new section! The best part is, our fees will not increase! This might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to run the 4-mile course (really technical secion was just added onto the old 2.4 mile course) at such a low cost! If we were getting charged the regular rate, I'd have to request about $225 for a day . . . seriously . . . so here's your chance to save a few bucks and get to know the new track.
So, Bonni and the rest, how was the weekend? Sorry I missed it but Yosemite was nice too, for a change. Really looking forward to the new track and love to hear how it run, video would be good as well. Thanks,
Randy

We didn't get to run the new section after all, as they had not let the sealant mature enough before releasing the motorcycle club out there . . . they dug up the track a little, so they had to reseal. We at least got parade laps at lunchtime both days to see it. It looks like a high speed (think AAS but more hp) autocross to me . . . lots of fun can be had upstairs (that's what I've been calling it -- you'll see why).
Anyway, we did have one Z06 (a 2003 blue -- I think he called it 'Electron Blue' -- or something similar -- defintely not Radar Blue, but the purply-blue metallic) on Sunday. . . I had a ball as a passenger in that car. He seemed concerned as soon as I told him I'd driven several Corvettes on track. Shoulda kept my big mouth shut. We also had a black Z06, same year I think, out with the Van Wagenen father and son team. It's always a pleasure to see Erick and Fred -- great people, great drivers (nice cars, too, lol).
We do have some video, but it's only of the 2.4 lower portion of the track. One of our Evo folks recorded it. If you'd like, I can post it. It's not bad footage.
Bonni, thanks for the additional info, always love to see Video, helps me when I go back to tracks I haven't seen in awhile. Spring should be fun on the new section of track.

Bonni, looked like about 1.39's to 1.41's, and stayed pretty tight, not using all the track in several places. Have they changed the burms from turn 1 to turn 8 or so? I know we tried to stay off them until we got to about turn 9 or 10 and then they were good. Looked also like the track had new paving. Thanks for the current look, enjoyed.

***The driver was an intermediate Evo driver, one whom has never seen this configuration. We showed them a few laps of the line in the morning, and did encourage them to ask if they needed help. They would have benefitted greatly had they stayed for the Sunday sessions. The times you quote mesh up with about what they are claiming on the Evo newslist. I didn't have the heart to tell them I did a 1:38 in my SM (but could have probably gone a bit faster . . . at least, it felt like it).
The track has softened up some of those burms . . . especially in the esses. The track has not been repaved, but rather, just resealed. We should have a demo look soon at the new section, as the track allowed one of our Subie racers to run around up there at slow speeds (not necessarily driving the line, either -- nobody has really seen it enough to know the line just yet) . . . if I get wind of that link, I'll let you all know. I have been invited in the spring to run a freebie day on the new section, along with many others, to help the track develop a line. Surely I'll give you guys feedback then.
Bummer we missed you -- you would have loved it! Perfect weather!!!
Bummer to miss, yes, but the wallet only has so many dates in it and I think I'm over budget anyway. Think I'll see you mid month and hope the weather holds good for most of the days.
As to lap times at R-F, I'm looking forward to going back but have to admit I will still look for a day on the old track. I did much better at BW after getting Brandon at Kraus Racing to lower and corner weight my car and I'd love to try that setup on the high speed portion at R-F. Now if I could just figure out what is fastest through 5 & 6 I'd feel better the results. If you find in the Spring that they need more volunteers to contribute rubber to the line, remember I've got a fairly big contributor available, 295's should be above average. Thanks,
Randy
