Dave Dowdell wins West Coast Corvette Challenge Drag Racing event #7
Dave Dowdell Wins the September 3rd 2005 West Coast Corvette Challenge!
Saturday, September 3rd was another clear, sunny racing afternoon and evening in the California high desert, with the temperatures ranging from the high 90s in the afternoon to mid 70s by the end.
Dave Dowdell prevailed over Lloyd Miyashiro in a blue car final contest, with Lloyd crossing the line first, but breaking out by .037. Dave ran his auto 89 coupe, Lloyd in his auto 03 coupe.
Dave earned the A & A Corvette Performance trophy for his fourth win of the season, three in a row, and his seventh overall Corvette Challenge event win. Dave ran a 15.434 on a 15.25 dial with a .079 RT to Lloyd’s 13.303 on a 13.34 dial and a .116 RT. Dave extends his comfortable lead in the Championship points with his win. Congratulations, Dave.
Lloyd Miyashiro returned to the WCCC to win the A & A Corvette Performance sponsored Runner-Up trophy over semi-finalist Nat Hodgson and his red C5.
Our other semi-finalist, Florian Meyer, along with Nat, earned Simpson Racing gift certificates for their efforts. Florian raced his yellow C5.
Nat came from Las Vegas to race with us and competed quite well against the WCCC. Nat is also a past WCCC event winner (May 04 in Las Vegas).
Nat took an armload of hardware home. Nat earned the Los Angeles County Raceway Best Reaction Time trophy with a .041 RT in the first round. The trophy is awarded to the racer with the best first round reaction time. Nat also took home the Closest to Dial trophy, sponsored by Vapor Trail Corvettes in Santa Maria California, for his 14.021 ET on a 14.00 dial.
More congratulations to first round winners Jim Lane, Al Carrington, Bernie Longjohn, and Rochelle Dowdell.
Thanks to Mike Hickman and his wife for coming out in their yellow supercharged Z06. Mike had the low ET in eliminations with a 12.19 at 115.60. Mike lost in WCCC first round, but changed lanes over to the track sponsored Ford vs Chevy event and went all the way the semi-finals.
We all want to wish Good Luck to Brian Cunningham, who is in Iraq right now.
Thanks again to Bernie Longjohn and his crew for another well-organized great race day at our home track!
Thanks to all our sponsors including NAPA Auto Parts/Los Angeles County Raceway, Vapor Trails Vettes, Cormier Chevrolet, Complete Custom Wheels, Borla Performance Industries, Perez Web Design, Optima Batteries, Vette Magazine, Simpson Racing, and especially Andy and Melissa Green of A&A Corvette Performance.

I have an idea, why don't you switch cars with Rochelle. Your C4 (auto) is so slow that it doesn't have a problem being consistent (Tortus & the Hare).
