My girlfriend lives near that Ralphs (off Glenoaks) so I frequent the area, I did use to see a blk C5 Z06 parked often on her street...but lately it's been missing in action.
Sure it wasn't a blk C6, I was at the 76 station this morning...really 8 ricers, he's got a larger groupie than I do...DAMN
BUSTED.....led a group of 300Z's up Angles route...I need to fix my suspension on the 300Z, which is why I didn't drive her.....not that I didn't mind driving the Vette.....had to try the New Nitto 555R II's.
300Zer's don't like rice either we refer that to the Honda and Acura crowd.
Here are some Z pics
Not stock...watch out in the straights when the turbos kick in
That is SWEEET! Looks like a really neat group! I had a Twin Turbo 300 ZX ('90) before I traded it in on my C5. I loved that Z! Heres a pic:
That thing hugged the roads like it rode on superglue tires. That was way before I knew about the back roads here around Sunland, Tujunga and the other routes thru The Angeles Crest.
Now Im in this:
Way more powerful, but I'll need to do some suspension upgrades before I feel as confident in the high speed corners as I was in the Z.
Thats really cool you got to keep your Z AND got the Z06!
Nice!
Maybe I'll seeya around the neighborhood! I live on Foothill BLVD near Hansen Dam Park.
Ive never seen a better looking Charcoal Grey Turbo Z than the one I owned....but I never had that awesome front hood ornament mod!
Nice!
You are a lucky man indeed.
I really think the Charcoal Grey is the rarest and most beautiful of all the Turbo Z skin tones. As long as I owned mine (Maybe three years here in LA)...I only ever saw one other Turbo that same color. I love that exclusivity factor!
Maybe I'll get another one someday. Or perhaps I'll get a chance to admire yours someday up close. Have you modified it? I kept mine stock...helped me get a good price on it when I sold it to the next fortunate owner.
Im not keeping my black C5 stock. I dont intend to sell it ever. If I cant afford to keep it and by other toys...Im happy to have my C5 as Toy #1.
Here is our "other" Z (73 240z). Its an 11 second 1/4 mile street car and 160+ top end. No nitrous! Just a 3.2 litre stroker Datsun 6 cylinder making 350 flywheel HP in a 2200 lb car. OH YEAH!
It's funny... I sold my Z to a friend of mine after I got my Vette. He almost came on our little cruise today. Z's are not ricers... generally speaking. Sometimes kids ruin them with the big wings, etc., but for the most part they're great-looking cars with great owners. I really loved my Z and had a hard time parting with it. Just a great car.
I've noticed a lot of Vette owners were once Z owners. I'd love to have a Vette / Z get-together with all the guys who used to or still own either or both.
Patrick, I finally found a pic of my Z! It's the cherry red pearl in the middle. I know it's not a great pic, but it's all I have.
rileydawgg..you must have been a Empire Z member. I recognize Derrick's and Chuck's 300Zs in the pic.....I have been on some cruz's with the Empire Z people, really nice group of people. Derrick actually was on this cruz with us, but he brought his M3.....on the last Empire cruz to Big Bear, there were two Vette's riding along...I was one were you the other?
Actually, no, it wasn't me. That pic is from a couple years ago at the Z Nationals in Orange I believe. I wasn't a member of anything except TwinTurbo.net. The guys I knew were Ping, Ryan, Seb, some other guys I only knew their screen names, and Greg Dupree of Specialty Z in Woodland Hills (the best Z mechanic in the country; I wish he worked on Vettes!). I just went to events if they were posted on the forum, and mostly the canyon runs. I lived in Santa Monica, and there weren't a whole lot of Z guys on the westside, so I didn't go to a lot of get-togethers. It was strange how most of those guys used to bag on drag racers, but then ended up turning their cars into 11 and 12-sec beasts and were at the track every other weekend... which isn't really my thing. I prefer cruises and more casual get-togethers.
BTW, your car looks awesome. What have you done to it?
I heard about some of the people you mention...most of the Z guys I hang with just like mtn runs like Vette guys and just hang out......no drag racers.
...the Z just has the bolt ons...looks only, no go...have the Vette for good times That's the complaint I get on runs "Where's your Z".....I'd say the "Z06 is right hear"
Thats sweet. So awesome to see other guys with the great taste to go from 300ZX to Corvette. Both are awesome cars...seems like a natural progression for people with a good eye for design and performance.
Riley! Im so glad you finally posted a pic of your awesome Z! Beautiful indeed. Great choice for color!
Cheers to all you Z lovers and Vette converts!! I'll always love the 300ZX, and now Im happy to experience the joy of Vette ownership as well.
