Been there done that .........the car is all that , very nice. They say it's 1st buillt the serial no ends with 047? but it should be fast. The silly-con valley marked up price humored at 25k But being a chevy faithfull the car is Looking forward to seeing it run street/strip.
Stopped by Courtesy to see the ZO6. I really like the flared fenders and the more aggressive stance of the ZO6 over the standard coupe. Was told many showed up to view the cars Saturday, but there was very light attendance today. They served a nice lunch and I met some interesting Corvette owners who arrived in a 62 FI convertible, 65 FI coupe and 63 coupe. I loved the sound of their engines when they pulled into the lot together.
It's a great looking Corvette, and an even better looking performer, but I won't be rushing to pay over MSRP for one anytime soon. If I do get one, I may even wait and get one with a few miles on it, and the obligatory 1st-year recalls fixed.
I enjoyed seeing the C5R almost more than the new Z. What an automobile! It was the first time I'd seen one in person, and I must say, pictures, videos, and 1:18 scale diecasts just *don't* do that car justice... Soooo mean.
As usual, the bonehead salespeople at Courtesy were in top form.
Oh...and here's a comparo of the nose of a standard C6 and the Z06:
I guess we were lucky. Never saw a salesman the entire time we were there.
BTW, I was very disappointed by the size of the gap between the trunk lid and top lid on the silver convertible. You could clearly see the hinges and mounting hardware underneath. I have noticed this all the 2005's I have looked at.
There will be a Velocity Yellow Z06 on display at the Corvette Spectacular Car Show in Los Altos on Sunday, September 18th. Even if you are not interested in showing your car, there is a Corvette Corral with reserved Corvette Parking. You wanna see the car? Come on out! Details at www.sccorvettes.org
I went with the group on Sunday and they were just closing up the place 15 min after we arrived. The C5R was very cool and the new Z06 was looking sharp. Somebody asked me how much the new Z06 was going to be and I said out loud $65,000. Then another guy corrected me saying it was going to be $65,800 with destination charges.... I guess the extra $800 made a big difference to him.
