Default Winter Jam? I have had several inquiries!

Sorry, I have been so busy that time has just flown by!

Last I knew, it looked like WINTER JAM had been replaced with a "love boat cruise" (just kidding)

Is there such a cruise? I haven't seen anything on it in months if there is!

It's Mid October now, and it may be too late to organize anything for Fla in january, but maybe we could salvage February!

If Phil (joe cool) is still around, perhaps he could chime in!

I have the info on the Gainesville track and it wouldn't be difficult to set that up, but it would be nice to have a contact at the Adams Mark Hotel in Daytona and at the Daytona track. A few phone calls could probably get it done!

If we just wanted to have a "wild time" at Gainesville, Drag strip and Road Course, it would cost us around $1,500 per day to rent the whole facility...two days $ 3,000.00

The road course guys last year chiped in $ 900 of the $1500 per day and the drag racers skated by with around $ 600

I wouldn't mind say a Friday, for drags and road course...$ 1500 total. 15 road coursers at say $ 60.00 is 900.00 and 40 drag racers at say $ 15.00 would be 600.00 for a total of $ 1500.00 A full day on the road course is all we can say grace over. 40 on the drag strip would be enough passes to get you into "heaven"!

We could find a central motel in Gainesville, party Thursday night, race around on Friday, party Friday night, run around Fla on saturday and go home Sunday! Or go home Saturday after a party night!

I'd like to do the Daytona thing like we did two years ago, but there may not be enough time to get it organized.

I am busy and I might need a little help with registrations and collecting money and finding a hotel in Gainesville, but I can handle the track stuff since I have done it before

If there is already something happening, then OOPS! Sorry I butted in! But if nothing is shaking, perhaps we can throw something together!

I am ready!

Jack

Daytona Speedway is under a major rebuilding right now. It may not be available in February due to Speedweeks and teams renting it for practice.

I think a day of racing at Gainseville is the way to go Jack...let Daytona be replaced with the Bahama cruise....you could work in a trip to the Don Garlitts Museum in Ocala, only about 30 minutes south of Gainesville....

We had to cancel on the last one. Definitely count us in for the road course and drags.

How about maybe doing it on the friday before the rolex 24 hours and then we could spend the weekend Sat and Sun at the track watching the race? Just a thought.

I'll be more than happy to attend this year.

I'm not going to organize it again.

No problem Phil!

Do you have the contact names and numbers at Daytona and at the Adams Mark?

We may be getting to late a start to do much of anything, but I think it is worth a shot

The girl I worked with at the Adams Mark isn't there any more and I think Daytona is closed for a resurfacing.

Jack you may want to think about moving any event further south. If you remember the weather in Daytona wasn't exactly warm.

We ran the little road course with the SCCA group earlier in the year and it was a blast.

I'll start working on it more seriously next week. To make it work, actually to help pay for the track, we could use a strong turn out of Drag racers!

I have asked "Fuzzy Dice" Dan Warren to help out in that regard.

Here's how the numbers work! Track want's $ 1,500 for the day. the "day" can, I believe, consist has it has in the past, of road course time and drag strip time.

Here's some #'s if we have just 15 road coursers, and 15 seems to be the right number (and all the track will allow), that's $ 100 each for all day! All day is probably more than most of us can handle! That's a lot of laps!

If we divide it in half, half a day for the roaders and half a day for the dragers, then 15 roaders pay $50 each and 30 draggers pay $ 25 each

Dragers get to run beaucoup passes for $ 25! That's a real bargain!

Roaders do good too! We run for up to 5 hours of laps...that's $10.00 per hour!

But there's more to it, unfortunately. For people some coming from more than say 300 miles, they want some other reason to drive that far, other than running around a race course all day. Must admit that running around a race track all day is a good enough reason for me, but may not be for others.

I was thinking about trying to resurrect the Daytona Track thing on Saturday which was an unbridled success for Winter Jam 1, (Phil got it right!), but the track maybe closed for paving.

No offense anyone, but "DIS"ney was a "DIS"mal failure last year.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we might include to present more of a draw?

Don't get me wrong! If 15 people pony up $ 100 each for the road course all day...I am there and I will organize it! I'll figure out my own excuse for driving that far

I agree the weather could be cold, but we could move the date to sometime in February if we thought it might be warmer... but hey!

60 degrees in Florida is a H$#L of a lot warmer than 45 in Virginia

If you don't want to post here, e mail me at

buydavette@aol.com

I'll send an e mail in the next few days to all who signed up last year! I would really like to get this together, come January I will be going stir crazy and looking for an excuse to drive...drive..drive!!

seeya
