Central GA Corvette Club Rock N Roll Vette Fest **PIX**!
The Corvette Club of Central Georgia put on their first Rock N Roll Vette Fest at Reynolds, GA Silver DOllar Raceway this weekend.
OYeaLiz and I converged at the Holday Inn in Macon where we caravanned to a nearby lake and had a "Meet and Greet". FuddRuckers donated the evening main course, while the CCCG provided "potluck" sides and desserts.
A drag strip seminar for beginners was held, as was a 50-50 drawing and a live band!
Saturday morning we caravanned over to Silver Dollar Raceway where the track officials warmly met us and gave us pointers at the drivers meeting.
A little after 10:00, the drivers were lining up and running down the track! We had a "fast eight" bracket race (fastest 8 cars of the day competed with each other), a regular bracket race, and fun runs until 3:00. While the drag races were going, the show area was set up nearby.
There was one "super vette" drag car there making runs in the 8's and some street vettes in the 11's. A few more in the 12's raced, while most of the field ran in the 13's.
There was a NOS C6 there that ran once or twice in the 11's.
Saturday evening's banquet was provided where the "Top Ten" awards from the people's choice from the car show were presented. The chicken, prime rib dinner was followed by an NCM/Cystic Fibrosis fund raising auction.
Wendell Strode from the NCM was present answering questions about the NCM and the current building campaign.
OYeaLiz and I found the members of the CCCG VERY friendly, helpful and fun. We were "lost" sometimes and member's went well out of their way to help us find our way.
We enjoyed ourselves very much and looking forward to Rock-N-Roll Vette Fest #2!

The Pit Crew Chief (me) got to put on the Nittos's. Liz tried them out and didn't get traction, so the chief (me) put on the Goodrich drag radials and she had better luck.
Hey GotMoJo! I remember your "JUB JUB" tag!

It was nice to meet you and Liz and I must say, I've never met women who likes to smoke the tires the way she does. I think she gets as much enjoyment out of that then she does going down the strip!
Our committee had a meeting last night and we're already discussing ways to improve the event for next year, etc. We will be sending out email questionnaires on what you guys liked and disliked about the event and ways we can make it better.

You forgot the best part. The winners of the races and show.
I won the quick 8 butnot sure of the names of the winners of the regular bracket race or the best of show. I did get a top ten in that also. A very nice event just a few hickups but for a first show it could not have been better. For all of you who missed this one don't let it happen again next year. I see this turning into a very large event in years to come.
