Default Nitro-C5...final medical update....

I'm still getting some nice emails....Thank-you all VERY much for thinking of me!!!

Just want to send out a final post to let you all know how I'm doing. Had my MRI done the other day and confirmed that muscle fibers from Pec, Front Delt, Bicep and even Tricep have some tearing that has occured. Good news is that the tendons are still attached and it looks like surgery will not have to be performed.

Bruising is getting worse, however is to be expected from all the damage. I have a very good ability to heal from minor muscle tears (which is actually what happens to all of us everytime we go to the gym and workout) so my Physical Therapist feels I should make a full recovery over time :hurray: I'm using the Miller clinic in Charlotte, which is the same place I was sent to by the NFL 3 years ago while in camp. They are the best at dealing with athletes so I am in good hands.

Thanks again for all the warm remarks by all my friends on this forum. You guys are truely the best! :yesnod: :yesnod:

Thanks,
Rick

Here's a PIC taken this morning:

Cool that there is not surgery needed. If you need anything then give Jim and I a call. How long is the healing going to take? When are you going to come to Knoxville so the SMC can  ?

Does that mean that you can take more protien to help rebuild...then does that mean after healing there will be more mass on that side?

I don't know if that is a serious question, but honestly not 100% sure of how it will look when fully healed. Actually some of the muscles have been damaged and will probably never be exactly the same, also that side will have alot of scare tissue to deal with now.

Right now that side, because of inflamation and the bunching up of tore fibers looks bigger then the right side.

Yes...serious question. You mentioned that's the way muscles grow anyway. With the right therapy for healing, I wondered how they "heal". Guess for any gain, you would lose also from not working out.

That's a good philosophy and partly ture, however fibers that have experienced severe trauma take a long time to grow back to there original size and strength. I have heard of some individuals that come back with a certain degree of increased size, however like you said it is usually offset by the fact that these fibers have not been conditioned to the maximum for quite some time.

I'll just be happy to finally be able to lift my arm up over my head! Man this is killing my sex life....and it really didn't need anymore of a downside!!
