Window Tinting % in Florida ?
I've only lived in Florida a little over 3 years now and my observation is that a lot of people tint their windows at 20% or even less.... I'm assuming that the cops don't hassle people over window tint. Just curious if I would be asking for trouble if I went 20% especially on a yellow car where it will be really obvious....

I've never gotten a ticket for tint. I have the darkest 3M tint that isn't "limo tint". So one shade from the darkest? Not sure the percentage. I usually get the front window "visor" (top part) tinted down to the bottom of the rear view mirror mount. This is much further than the little legal-mark that comes on the windshield. Never once has it been even mentioned to me. Now, I know people that have limo tint and don't care about tickets. They've gotten several citations for it. But they're probably driving like jerks or... IDK being rude to the officers? If I'm ever pulled over (and it's not raining) I roll all the windows all the way down for their benefit anyways, be as respectful as possible and keep going regardless.

When I had my C7 tinted, my tinter guy that has done all the cars I have owned for the last 30 years really did not want to go over the legal limit. He would do it, but he wanted cash and no receipt. I guess they come after him too?
My dog drives in the back and the darkest legal is not dark enough in the Florida inferno, and he sits back there panting. I installed an extra fan back there to help him out. I would take it in and get something darker but my guy hates removing and re-applying.
If they are looking for a reason to pull you over, your probably going to get a ticket.

simple rule no matter the tint...if you get stopped drop the windows especially at night and turn on interior light....99% of the time you won't get any hassle....now if you are riding on 30's bumpin some NWA F**k the Po-lice then your interaction may be different

I'm leaning toward 20%... I'll probably be driving with the top and windows down 90% of the time and I have to think that most cops will realize that anyone driving a Zonker Yellow Corvette aren't hiding anything

Where in Florida do you live and are you getting tints for heat resistance or for looks, or for both?

In my experience it totally depends on the cop. if you get someone who wants to hassle you, well be prepared to get a ticket or be told to come to the precinct next week with it removed.
Best idea is when you do get pulled over, roll every window down. Don't let them get close and notice its illegal.
That said, I had limo tint in Louisiana, where you really need it too, and I did eventually get nabbed for it by a cop who got me at a red light pulling away.

I'm going tomorrow morning. I'll see what the guy recommends. I saw a Rapid Blue C8 with 30% by the same installer and it seemed a little light for my liking. I think the legal limit is 28%. I'm still leaning toward 20%. The cop that ticketed me in NJ in my Gen2 Viper GTS actually started to peel my tint with his fingernail so hopefully Florida is different. Although I will say that the cops in my town had a speed trap set up last week with a cop in a Santa Suit standing on the west side of an I95 overpass and they were pulling people over issuing warnings...

do it, if they give you a hard time say you work out of your car during the day and you have a family history of skin cancer...
never had an issue, all my vehicles are 15% and 70% windshield...
just don't look like a "gangster"

I actually did have to have some precancerous skin damage lasered off off my face twice since I moved to Florida 3+ years ago but I figure the cop's next question would be why do you drive a convertible then. I'm going to wing it with 20% anyway.

I wound up doing 30% on the sides and 20% on the back. He also installed red tint on the clear taillight glass that I need to get some pictures of...

All of my cars in florida for the last 10 years have been tinted 5% all around and I've never been stopped for window tint, and when pulled over its never even been mentioned. In florida you want as dark as possible to help with interior damage, and definitely invest in a windshield visor.
