Hello,

I'm very seriously considering attending the event. What happens if it rains? Will there be a make-up date or will refunds be administered?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I've attended every V4V's events through the years and there has never been a rain out. But the organizers put in the ins and outs of the event its a rain or shine event. I would assume if it does rain the event will still be held at the Speedway but changes to the sessions will be made.

Default sup all!!!!

So hey! Hows everybody doing!!!?????? Good I hope! Thanks again to Tim for stepping up and Mike for keeping the corvetteforum threads up to date and active. Took me a while of reading that past 2 years to get all caught up lol.

Guess who is going to Talladega come hell or high water lol. This guy! Just booked 5 sessions. Might have to rent a Uhaul Pickup and Trailer as my trips by extended now that Iam hanging my hat (nope not in Tennessee now) yeah in Massachusetts! So 1050 miles away. If anybody has any tips or other options for pickup truck and trailer rental options please post or PM me. Ive been communicating with Mike who after all these years I never really noticed drives all the way from Wisconsin for the event! Ironic Iconic lol. Mike where have you and Barry been parking the trailers? Also is everybody still staying in Pell City at the Hampton. I know its late, looks like they might be sold out but I might be able to do something or stay right next door at the Holiday Inn Express.

So yeah...just thought I would say hi. I am already speaking with several people at Vettes4Vets checking on the running order and getting myself into the group. Gonna be a great time for sure. Its been way too long. Whole new Talladega too. Cant wait! See everybody soon!

So Event update...

Mark has pointed out to let anybody you may know that there are plenty of spots still available!
We are only at 60% full as of today 4/16/2021. So post to your Facebook page, share it on Instagram or just word of mouth.

Also... Hotel update... (current as of today). If you got a special rate prior to today, my guess is you were grandfathered in before Covid so you should be good to go.
Apparently Hampton Inn isn't playing very nice right now. It would appear that they are only allowing people to book there if they agree to stay for 3 nights at their full price of $169.00 per night. No special discount rates are being offered like years past. For many this will be a deal breaker especially if you don't intend on staying 3 nights there. Alternative will be booking next door over at the Holiday Inn (which is what I did). Word to the wise though. DON'T BOOK THROUGH THEM! They will tack on at extra $25 in fees for no reason at all. If you go through Expedia or Priceline you will get the exact same room only $25 cheaper. ($136 vs $161 (room is $122 through Expedia plus $14 taxes/fees vs $105 though them plus $56 in taxes/fees). CRAZY! lol.

Hey Jeff glad your going to make it to this years event!! The year I towed I parked across the street in the Walmart parking lot. Barry and Mike parked their trailers in the Hampton parking lot either in the back or on the side. I went back and checked my room rates when I booked a few months ago and mine are $119.00 a night and I booked on the Hamptons site. I'm staying 3 nights coming in on Thursday and leaving early Sunday morning.

From the sad news department, Jeff Williams former executive director of Vettes-4-Vets died on April 1, 2021 in an automobile accident in Florida. There is an extensive obituary at the link.

https://www.fcfhs.com/obituaries/Jef...#/obituaryInfo

In speaking with Jeff years ago I think the Talladega track day event was his creation and I know his behind the scenes work to organize this had to be enormous, as it certainly is today for Mark and crew. Jeff was a member here on the forum as well.

This is a pic of Jeff from 2014. I don't know who to give credit to for the photo, but it was not me as I am standing behind Jeff next to my brothers '67 Nova. Jeff was a big Corvette guy like the rest of us. A thought and a prayer for Jeff. RIP.

Cool where did you get a hotel reservation? I tried the Hampton and as I posted they wouldn't sell me a room unless I was going to stay 3 nights (which Iam not). So had to stay next door at the Comfort Inn.

What I was planning on doing was leaving the trailer back at the hotel but if they won't allow that I'll have to bring it with me and do whatever you do man.

OMG!!!! Iam heartbroken. Him and I had so many conversations. Even after he was gone from V4V. Words can't express the grief in reading this! Thoughts and prayers go out to his family! I do hope that Mark or any of the Vettes4Vets people pay a special tribute and do a pace lap and moment of silence in his honor.

Hey Jeff, glad to hear you are coming to Talledega. I wondered what ever happened to you. I think I first met you at a car show here in Clarksville, TN at James Corlew Chevrolet a few years ago.
I am trailering my car down as well, but since we can’t park them inside the infield at the track, I will just leave it back at the hotel and drive. It is only 16 miles each way. I’m pretty certain I can make it to the track, do 25 laps, and make it back on a tank of fuel.
Tim says that in the past Walmart has allowed for trailer parking across the street from the hotel.

Hi! Yes we did meet at that Clarksville Show! Where does the time go right!? I moved back to Massachusetts back in 2019 when my company was sold. I decided to move back to be closer to family. I lived in Tennessee for 12 years and do miss the south a lot along with all my southern friends!

I heard the same thing about the trailers. I will have to rent a Uhaul Pickup and trailer. My only concern is someone trying to mess with it or steal the trailer in the Walmart parking lot. I could just be overthinking it though.

Larry you'll be fine on fuel. One of the last years I brought my 2009 I had my drag setup still on the car because I had run the car just before we left for Talladega and still had skinnies and drag radials mounted. Plus just before you get back on the Interstate in Lincoln there is a Shell and Chevron gas stations that we normally stop at before heading back to Pell City. Where you'll park your truck and trailer 18 wheelers park also when they stay either at the Hampton or Holiday Inn.

So another day closer....I will say with everybody getting C7s...man Iam getting the itch. Maybe next year. Depends haha. Need to compare how a C7Z06 compares up against mine. It took me nearly 10 years to get mine setup the way I like it haha.
