2014 Eastern Carolina Corvette Club NCCAR Track Day
I am not a member of the ECCC but I did participate in the NCCAR track day last year and had a great time. I know there were several CF members there and would like to raise some awareness about this event.
Sign-up sheets are available on the ECCC website and this years event is scheduled for August 2nd.
The course is just over two miles and has a half mile straight. There are no gator strips and no curbs. There were a couple of spins last year but no damage to the vehicles, overall a very safe track to run on.
Look forward to seeing who will run this year!

Yup, I'm planning on doing this. Trying to get a couple of my friends to sign up as well. Maybe I will remember to mail in the check when I get home this evening.

Sent in a check last week. What else do I need to bring/prepare for this besides a helmet? Is the tech inspection performed at the track? Will there be food available?

Inspection at the track and there's a food van there for hotdogs, burgers, chips, all that stuff. I'd definitely recommend bringing a cooler with some Gatorade and water because I don't know what it is about NCCAR but that track is always hot as hell.

Anyone know if there will be helmets available there to use?
And can anyone advise on a good place to buy a helmet locally that would would be certified at the local tracks and be reasonable in cost?
Thanks

There are no helmets available to use...I'd recommend finding a friend with one, find a raceshop, or get one on the interwebs with fast shipping.
*i know Doug Herbert's shop here in Concord sells helmets.

I just have the Bell Sport SA2010.
I'd also consider a couple skull caps to keep the sweat down. There's not much that's more gross than putting on a wet, stinky helmet. After use I just soak them in water, wring them out and they dry pretty quickly.

I was looking through YT to find some good NCCAR track videos because I've never run there and I wanted to see the track layout. This is one I found. I wasn't expecting this:
I can't say I've ever seen anything like that.

This event runs the track clockwise... I couldn't imagine running this track counterclockwise and have face the hairpin as turn 1 (like in the video above with windshield cracking). That makes a good last turn before the straight as you can drift through that turn then floor it and get up to 130-140mph before your deep into the brakes again.
