Default Corvette Mechanic/Shop Recommendation; Miami, Fl

Hello All:

Is there anyone who can recommend a good mechanic or shop; both experienced and reasonable, in Miami, FL (33172-33173)?

I'm new to the forum, and just recently acquired my first Corvette; 1982 --and loving everything about it. Although no issues currently at hand, I wish to familiarize myself with a reliable team if needed.

Thanks in advance!

Hi onezulu,
welcome. Im also in the same boat with issues with my crossfire engine, but the kind folks at Sunshine Corvette passed along a name and address of a mechanic. Corvette specialist at 8817 SW 131 ST. 305 235 2156, ask for Mr. Dave Walters,(his name was mentioned on a previous post by some one also looking). And Grand Prize Chevrolet will be hosting the clubs annual rally this weekend the 23rd, which i plan on being at and signing up for club membership. Best wishes and if i can ever be of help please let me know.

Thanks Issac!

I did find and meet the folks at The Vette Smith. They were recommended by a member of the Corvettes of Miami club. I ended up dropping of my car with Mark Goldberg, one of the owners. They've been in the same location for 30 years. From the looks of how he tackled my current issue on the spot, these guys can know their way around these girls as second nature.

I dropped it off last Friday. He diagnosed the issue on the spot, ordered the need sensor (as his local contacts did not have it at hand), and said he would receive it the following Tuesday.

They don't work on weekends, but will work with owners if needed.

I got a good vibe from their approach. And seeing a clean and organized work surroundings helped clinch my decision to choose them. Hoping their experience comes with reasonable pricing...

Anyway thanks for responding. Will post results later; if you're interested for future reference.

Leaking oil from above; one of my valve cover gaskets was bone dry & brittle. Also high idling, and wouldn't level-off.

I have the same problem at start up, high for a bit then settles down alittle below 10000. But at acceleration the motor hesitates then kicks in. When i purchased the car it had been in storage, then slowly i changed the plugs, wires, sending unit, gas filter etc. I can change out stuff but when it comes to diagnosis and trouble shooting i need help, which is where im at. I have a cross fire inj. system for my collectors edition, in my circle of collectors they dont have to much knowledge with these engines. I will try out Corvette specialist and let you know how that goes also. keep me posted, and if you can make the rally let me know it would be great to meet you. Good night.

Hi SpeedwearUSA
I was able to speak to a Mr. Dave Walters at Walters enginering and he is going to look at my problem Monday. High Idle and bogging down when i accelerate, but in the mean time i read some of the postings for the CFI 1982 engines on the C-3 thread and found alot of helpful information that i will try to apply from now until Monday in hopes of finding the issue. Thank you for your help either way.

I got my car last night, and I must say the guys at The Vette Smith did an incredible job! They were professional, kept me informed and were reasonable in their parts and labor pricing. As you know, the stock parts for these cars aren't very pricey; it's the labor costs that can add up quickly.

The car runs great, no more oil leak and the idle issue is no longer present. Kudos to The Vette Smith in Miami!
